How does EXP acctually work?

heres the deal!

i have a really good game and i get a good amount of exp, but after that i had an even better game but got less exp.

i thought EXP is reflected on the amount of kills and type of kills you get?

is that not right?

EDIT:Quick question. when the UK server comes does that mean i wont disconected as much?
