I personally, leave CF running a lot so I don`t have to reload the game.
Because for some reason, it takes forever to load up.
When you hit the button, it could but something like (AFK) or -AFK- by your name so that
your friends and others will know you are not there.

The honest answer is, it's a bad idea, and shouldn't be there. Either they need to leave the game, or they need to handle the fact they're going to die a bunch. There should never be any way for someone to have their character be invincible in game, ever. -

Wow, really? I have XP, but the laptop sucks. I have to wait around 5 minutes too
I use to be able to take a shower before it would finish loading up, but it got a bit faster. -

Its for if you were in the lobby, not in game... so your friends aren`t whispering you like crazy thinking you are ignoring them. Same with clan mates. -
There already is such a feature in this game. Its the "storage" button. Not only does it stop the game from kicking you for being idle for too long, but it also gives you a nice (S) in your tag, that shows everyone else that you are currently unavailable.
