  • that thing that says it? just click it out, its come on to me many times, and i never fell for it. Its a scam. If you fell for it, too bad, your gonna have no choice BUT to reformat it. Why are my things blocked? I use Norton. Yeah I know that it's much more aggresive, but its been programmed to detect and block every single attempt to access my comp
  • dude... i dont think u can sue z8games for anything

all you need todo is reformat your laptop and thats all

    wow dude seriouslly..?

by saying all the shyt your saying your digging yourself into a deeper hole

Reformat my computer and lose all the important files on it? No thank you.

As for the hole. The shovel has yet to be lifted. I know all the mods (Except _Mem_) very well as well as fallen angel. I doubt anything bad will be done in my account.
  • I am going to be working with Styx on removing this virus. Once I have verified that the removal has worked, I will post a stickied thread detailing the removal procedure.
  • After reading every posts you had STYxAlt I agree totally you should be very mad and possibly sue ( worth a shot) and the fact that you clicked on their link... well in a way is their fault but I really think they should take the forums down AGAIN and give the forums a good scan ;)

  • get an ultimate boot disk >..>

they can clear levels of malware infections that regular programs could only dream of.. (if its up to date)

using one of these allows you to scan your HDD for malware, and remove it, without even powering/starting it up. so malware dosnt even get a chance to startup, much less protect itself. becuase they, like everything else is just data on the drive, and with the drive not active, its free and open for the scanners on the ultimate boot disks to find and eliminate with no resistance.

and UBD's are non-crouptable, they cant be infected by viruses or any kind of malware, so you can use them on any amount of infected pc's..
  • We're going to be using Hiren's BootCD, which has just about everything necessary to remove that particular infection. Malwarebytes Antimalware will definitely kill it, but he is currently unable to run any exe files. Hiren's BootCD has a mini windows xp on it, so he can boot to that from the CD and then run the included copy of Malwarebytes from the disk.
  • he should keep it too. then seek out one for his current OS thats up to date.

(btw to prevent stuff like that in the future, dont use firefox or IE.. [I use opera with ESET SS4 (full version).. the malware got stopped dead in its tracks when it tryed to attack me..] there the most targeted browsers right now.)

also make it a habit to scan your computer daily, or every other day with 3 sources of anti-malware programs (1 AV, 1 anti spyware, and one online scanner[norton online scanner is actally quite good with that].)

close all ports and services that you dont use.
  • No offence but why AVG and Ad-Aware? They both suck badly. Buy real protections man!
I have Panda Internet Security + IOBit Security 360 Pro + Microsoft Security Essential (which is FREE if you have a LEGAL copy of Windows) and have not had a problem for a long time. Before I used to trust Norton and TrendMicro untill I relised that they are useless against REALLY dangerous threads out there!
  • You paid 800 bucks for an acer? They suck.

But seriously, that sucks about your rig going down.
  • The virus is probably from other sites.
    Possibly P***.
    It happens.

dude its not their fault that you got infected, you think that all of the sudden they will just start sending viruses to everyone for fun? greycloak said it is an add on the site and it has nothing to do with anyone unless you click on it, i wish you the best, but its not z8's fault... hope you get your account back :)

thats a flat out lie! i DID NOT click anything when i got the bs malware thing. all i did LITTERALLY all i did was log in to the website. personally i think z8 is getting money from someone to let this bs malware thing hit us. you other ppl canthink what ever u want u can say u have to click somethign u can say whatever u want, but what u say and what has happened ARE NOT the same.... greycloak saying tis a add on the site huh. well guess what. z8 gets money to alow these ppl to put adds on z8's site there for thier getting money to give us bs malware problems. look at the facts im right,,,, now u haters begin flaming like u ALWAYS do.
  • If i am in my usuall mode i'd get a copy of that malware ,reverse engineer it and code a removal (this what i've been doing for years) but i guess i will pass this time.

    It is their fault.

If I am clicking something on THEIR website that links me somewhere completely different from the forums and harmful damage is done. then yes. it is their fault.

I put in my information to this website trusting it will be safe and secure from outside programs.

Z8 I can change. I know what I have done. I have read the rules. Give me a final chance to get myself together on these forums. I don't want to leave just yet.

I wonder if you really read the rules ;]

  • If anyone else is experiencing these popups or malware please reply with the following:

    Internet Browser (including version)
Page visited when you received the popup
Geographical location (east coast, west coast, etc)
List any Free ZP surveys that you have recently completed

This information may help me to narrow down the origin.
  • Before I could tell my friend anything he stormed off to the computer shop for a repair.

I bought a blank CD to burn the things on it and boot off that... If the shop can not repair it I will work with to find a solution.

    Sorry-

    Edit-
I have found 2 virus's on my desktop after having a 6 hour scan.

    1: was completely removed
    2: CrossFire_OBV034_Full.exe.tdl
  • Unfortunately most computer shops will just charge for a data backup and an operating system reinstall. That expense could have easily been avoided. I was also hoping to get firsthand confirmation that the removal procedure would work so that I could post it for general use.

Just keep me posted about it.

Message from my friend (Nick) : Dude you owe me 200$ I don't want to be your guinea pig on this issue. If it doesn't work then what? Pis(s) off..

I'm angry about this too. He is really arrogant and would not listen to me one bit.
I hate living with stupid people -__-
  • That $200 is unnecessary. All they will do is back up his data and reinstall windows. A simple scan would have brought the computer back to it's original state. Furthermore, the data itself could have easily been backed up using the BootCD and external storage.

Oh well, some people insist on believing that depot technicians actually know what they are doing. Unfortunately in most cases it's kids straight out of high school who have no real world experience in fixing computer systems. Plus, they need to adhere to a script, so rather than being able to offer a virus removal, the only option they can offer is a backup/reinstall.

CrossFire_OBV034_Full.exe is an installer for another version of you know what.

On another note, who goes to a shop with their computer these days? Everyone knows a tech geek in the family, and as long as the HD is working, you can use a boot disk to remove the data from it and re-install o.O

Although, 200 dollars per job sounds nice Grey ;)

An adult is advising me right now the owner of these computers have deep and considerable computer knowledge. Yes it's true maybe all you need to do is... But when you don't have this knowledge and cannot receive it by the general manager or a moderator "You" ahead of time 200$ is well worth not losing my entire server. Please do not let this happen again sir. -Nick

A boot cd cannot damage a computer...it's like saying opening the hood of a car will destroy the engine. Sure you could rip out the spark plug and kill it, but so could your mechanic. If your not a moron, you just either run an antivirus, or grab the data and re-install.

He hung up the phone and doesn't want to speak with you guys anymore O__o
  • If he wants to be stubborn, that's his issue. But to hold you responsible for a cost that was unnecessary is unfair. It's been established that Malwarebytes Antimalware is fully capable of removing the infection. On the surface it may look like the system is completely screwed, but once the hooks into windows get removed by the scanner the problem corrects itself.

In any case, I'm sorry to hear about your situation and I hope the guy doesn't give you too much trouble.
