AK-47 vs M4A1
First of all on the stats bar of the AK-47 it shows the exact same damage of the dragunov which is completely wrong. (Don't trust the stats bars when choosing a gun to buy).
Also I don't see the point of using an AK-47 rather than an M4A1. Personally I think the m4 is better than the AK-47. No matter what range the m4 is always a 1 hit kill headshot (same with the ak). If you've played cs you would know this to be called a "dink" when the bullet hits the enemy's head but does not kill him.
AK-47
-1 hit kill headshot
-3-4 hit kill chest shot (mostly 3 hit)
-high recoil (especially right before the spray starts to settle into its pattern).
-first 2 shots accurate
M4A1
-1 hit kill headshot
-4-5 hit kill chest shot (mostly 4 hit)
-minimum recoil.
-first 3 shots accurate
AK-47 is less accurate than the m4a1 and you have to pull down much more each shot than you do the m4a1. Also (as we all know) Crossfire lags so many of your bullets do not register as a hit, even though you see blood on the enemy.
It is a matter of opinion so feel free to share yours.

simple comparasion:
AK47: Powerfull,big recoil
M4A1: Not that much powerfull,less recoil
Effectiveness(bad english): depends on player
M4 is strong and AK is 1 bullet stronger (approximately) out of 30 bullets, so the M4 is not "Not that much powerfull". 1 shot to the head with both guns is a headshot. -
I bought m4a1, but I have no problem with the AK-47. I came from cs 1.6 main, so I controlling recoil is easy for me. It not to hard to control, just pull your mouse down. I could use either one. But if your a sprayer, go with the m4. Like you can spray with AK too, but of course both guns are 1 click kill in the dome like you said, so you can burst with both guns anyways.

ur kidding guys, if u have learn't to play, recoil isn't a problem, i was a scarL user untill my bp got me my godly ak silver
(ak's recoil makes u think more about 1 shoting which helps me and spraying is damn easy after 10 mins) i was quickly a beliver in the ak, once an ak user always an ak user
