Late-night Lag

Every night around 12:30am-1:00am Eastern time (8:30pm Alaska time, my time) the game starts to lag. It isn't my ISP, because I can check the response timing sites and still ping the same as I could during the day. My latency/status on CF though goes anywhere from 175-240, when it's normally about 90. It's kind of ridiculous.

Is the CF team running tests, etc. at these hours?

I know that the player and clan lists update every night around that time, they may be slowing down a little during that time while the game servers send their data.
