The Best All Around Gun: After 530000+ EXP
Ok, there is nothing new in this post because it has been mentioned before. But what's hopefully new is the reasons for my choice as the Best God Mode Gun of the Game.
I owned and tried almost 99% of the guns.
http://clan.z8games.com/charstat_cf.aspx?usn=4154753
Two factors are important to know how to evaluate a gun:
1. Common sense, and how does the gun perform & feel in your hand practically.
2. Theoretical and scientific understanding as to "why the gun works well with me".
FIRST PRIORITY: SKILL
- Aiming Skills.
- Mastering A Primary Gun.
- Tactics.
SECOND PRIORITY: BULLET HITTING ACCURACY
- Standing/Crouching Accuracy.
- Moving/Running Accuracy.
- Bullet Spread.
- Fire pattern.
THIRD PRIORITY: Rate Of Fire
- Automatic bullet projection speed.
FOURTH PRIORITY: POWER
- Damage done to enemy per bullet.
FIFTH PRIORITY: Maneuverability
- Gun's Weight & impact on movement speed.
- Reload Time.
I believe that Accuracy+Rate of Fire are more important than Power. It's easy to understand this if we compare the Scar-Light with the AK-47. The 2 players shoot at each other, but the scar-lighter moves right to left in fast movements in fast bursts and the AK47er is trying to focus the crosshair for a single/double shot to the chest without missing.
If the Scar-lighter misses a few shots, it's always OK.
1. S/he can move/hide quicker.
2. S/he can reload faster.
3. S/he does'nt wait a lot for the gun to calm down from recoil.
If the AK47er misses a few shots, it's NOT OK Because...
1. For every shot S/he misses, it gives more time to the enemy to keep draining HP.
2. S/he should wait until the recoil of the gun is 0 so he can start shooting again.
3. Reload time of high-powered guns takes time.
On the other hand don't forget that in very close-ranges the Scar-Lighter will usually not stand a chance against the AK-47er. But this was simply to explain why Accuracy+ROF is much more important than Power, and then another important factor comes in handy and it's called the Bullet Spread.
Bullet Spread is the distance between bullets fired until a full clip round is finished. The lower the spread of the bullets, the higher probability that the "remaining" bullets will also hit the target.
There are 2 types of Bullet Spread:
1. Vertical Spread (Any gun recoil will usually push the bullets vertically upwards at first).
2. Horizontal spread (After the first few shots the bullets will go either left or right).
As far as low bullet spread and high accuracy goes, the competition in this field will settle to the following guns:
- M4A1 (with all relatives)
- Scar-Light
- K2
- XM8
- Steyr AUG
- SG552
- QBZ-95
PS: Scoping in scoped-guns greatly lowers the spread (on the cost of decreasing the rate of fire).
Therefore if I had to choose a gun from the list, I would choose QBZ-95. Because in terms of it's high power it has a low spread, and it has a high rate of fire. But then we're missing something else... The Fire Pattern.
The combination of Vertical & Horizontal Bullet Spread of a gun constitutes the Fire Pattern. Choosing the right gun from this list will totally depend on fire pattern, because it will decide how many bullets will hit the target while standing, moving, or running.
Abbreviations:
Accuracy = ACC
Fire Pattern=FP
Rate of Fire=ROF
Bullet Spread=BSP
Maneauverability (Speed of movement & reload time)=MVB
Steyr AUG: As All Around Rifle
1. Superior Accuracy Per ROF
2. Low BSP while standing
3. Worst FP while moving
4. Lowest MVB in its category.
Scar-Light: As An All Around Rifle
1. Superior Accuracy Per MVB.
2. FP Inferior to K2 & M4A1.
3. ROF inferior to Steyr AUG & M4A1.
4. Better (lower) BSP than Steyr AUG.
M4A1: As An All Around Rifle
1. Second to Steyr AUG in Highest Accuracy Per ROF.
2. Lowest BSP.
3. FP Inferior to K2 but superior to Scar-Light.
4. Second to Scar-Light and quite Average MVB.
K2: As All An Around Rifle
1. Best FP per MVB (MVB is lower than M4A1 & Scar-Light due to reload time slightly longer).
2. Second to Scar-Light in Standing/Crouching Accuracy & ROF.
3. Equal BSP to Scar-Light & Inferior to M4A1 & Steyr AUG.
AK-47: As Powerful Rifles
1. Superior Damage Per Hit.
2. Highest BSP (that's bad news).
3. Very low MVB due to slow movement speed, but reload time makes it up a bit.
4. Bad FP but it might be superior to XM8 & definitely inferior to Scar-Heavy.
5. Normal ROF.
Scar-Heavy: As Powerful Rifles
1. Lowest BSP Per High-Powered Guns.
2. As a high-power gun, the first 2 bullets are spread superior to the AK-47 and inferior to the QBZ-95
3. After the first 2 bullets, the FP is superior to QBZ-95 due to being more vertical (note that vertical spread is great for headshooting).
4. Worst MVB in high-powered guns due to the slow reload time and slow movement.
XM8: As An SMG-Close Powerful Rifles
1. It has superior Accuracy Per ROF & Per MVB, especially in crouching mode.
2. Inferior Power Per ROF to QBZ-95.
3. Best MVB in its category.
4. Vertical BSP when standing is superior in it's cateogry.
5. FP & ROF Inferior to G36K
6. Inferior scope to M4A1-Custom, Steyr AUG & SG552.
QBZ-95: As SMG-Close Powerful Rifles
1. It has Superior Power Per ROF (Beats XM8 & G36K).
2. Below Average FP while moving.
3. Average MVB.
G36K: As SMG-Close Powerful Rifles
1. Superior ROF and unregrettable MP5 alternative.
2. Pretty good MVB.
3. Vertical BSP suitable for headshooting.
4. Very High BSP per distance.
5. Scope superior to XM8 and inferior to the rest.
This makes it easier to mention the God Mode [DAMAGE] Awards:
Headshooting is important because it is the fastest way to kill an enemy. The Golden Headshooter Award goes to: M4A1.
- Because it has the lowest bullet spread per accuracy and rate of fire. As for the fire pattern, it's still works for headshooting while moving.
The God Mode All Around Gun goes to M4A1:
1. Because at close range it dominates better than the rest of the guns due to it's unbeatable ROF & vertical BSP combo.
2. The FP while moving is not as good as the K2, but it still works better than Scar-light
3. Highest probabilty of headshooting due to lowest BSP.
4. The guns' maneauverability is not as its' superior Scar-light but it's still better than many others.
The only competitor of the M4A1 is the Scar-Light, but the M4A1 beats it with better fire-pattern on the move, increased rate of fire, and lower BSP. But if you need the highest MVB, get the Scar-light.
The mentioned guns are the ones I prefer the most that's why I didn't mention the rest of the guns. For your info, the most special feature of any gun listed is written in the first point. It will help you decide which gun you can use to maximize it's pros and minimize it's cons during game play.
However, mentioning the best all around gun has one advantage, which is to utilize the most of your Aiming skills. That is to say that a PRO AK-47er will even be more unbeatable with an M4A1. Challenging guns teach you to aim, whereas good all around guns makes you PWN.
It is as wise to choose any gun as far as you will try to utilize it's pros and minimize it's cons, but when you're in a situation when you must face the cons of a gun, it will force you to switch your weapon. And then your mind will be clear, and you will return to the PROs Standard, killer of Killers... the M4A1 family.
I hope this helps in your choices for BAG1, and if more EXP changed my mind, I'll let you know. As for BAG2, it's still under-experimentation but most probably it will be a high-powered gun or smg-close rifle.
Thanks,
Arto

Well this is a very good guide but the thread starter is favoring a gun over other (M4A1) and giving his own opinion by giving his own preferences so I don't think this deserves a sticky.
For eg. I don't like the m4 at all but according to him m4 is best gun so this is unequal importance given to one member's opinion over the other by the STAFF which is not good.
P.S. - I am not challenging staff or anything, its just what I think. -
-
i read everything
to sum up... m4 best weapon
but i'm wondering, if the m4 custom better?
custom does 1-3more damage, with more recoil. but the red dot is perfect for non moving targets or if ur not moving. and the silencer works really good. like 10 steps away u can't hear it... at all -
Very good info

___________
Actually when you Think about it, ROF distorts the ACCURACY
Example: If a gun has a very high ROF Ex. Uzi or M60, and if you hold left click as you should to use the full power of Automatic Weaponry as they are (use given ROF) Your recoil goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up and you miss EACH Shot! Happens a lot of times, except for the UZI, it's an exception (I Dunno why, it sometimes headshots when recoil gets high-sky! XD)!!! So, you said that the AK47 is better at close range but is also firing slower then the Light Scar, seems impossible; the AK47 has VERY high Damage Rate but it also has high accuracy and favors Power above all, the "Light Scar" however is quite Light and Favors ROF and Moving Speed above all other Stats! In other words, if you are at far range, the AK47 Wins and not the Light Scar (Even though Light Scar moves faster), and at close range the Light Scar may win since you can Litheraly jump over your enemy since it's so fast on movement; You should also put in descriptions of the Thompson, Winchester (maybe not...) and the K1A! Otherwise, THIS IS PERFECT!!! -

i disagree with your idea on SL and AK47. you are basing this on the fact that the ak47 user is horrible at hiding and cannot handle the recoil. if the SL and AK users are both pros. chances are AK user will win. why? first, a higher damage. 3 shots vs 4 shots is a big diffrence especially on guns like scar. in longer ranges that 4 shot spray is gonna go way beyond where you want to hit. while AK's 3 shot burst will have atleast 2 bullets make it's way to the pray.
secondly. sure, SL users do move alot faster, they can single those bullets out. but with the ROF of SL being so awkward unlike M4 or ak. the recoil actually does catch up eventually unlike m4 or ak. single shotting on m4 or ak in motion is no problem at all unlike SL. Sl's single shots are fast, sure, but the recoil eventually catches up. it's because of how slow that recoil goes away. on M4. it is instant. On AK it's just abit slower then M4 and the slowest of them all is SL. hence why the recoil eventually catches up making the shots harder and harder.
Sl is a easier to handle sure, i get that, but in no way or form does it make SL missing a shot okay. if AK47 and SL were really to go up against one another. Sl missing a shot would potentially mean death because Ak47's spraying range is so incredibly far in the hands of a pro. if you miss that ak 47 is going to gun you done easily. however the SL, cannot miss those shots because for SL, after the first 6 bullet, the spray becomes and unpredictable T shaped pattern. there is no way that you could make sure it all hits the enemy. unless you are up close which would automaticly mean you lose anyways because of ak47's stronger then normal fire power
now on to the reloading. as you were saying ak47 takes a long time to reload. no it does not. the animation is awkward. that is all. it breaks aim. however SL takes almost the same amount of time to reload with a less awkward animation. sure it seems like SL is having the upperhand. but once again, that is under the assumption that the player has no idea how to reload or anything like that at all.
in short your idea of something being fast and accurate is better then being strong and accurate is completly false.
all of these things have a players skill as a variable. if we put ak47 against a sl chances are 8 out of 10 times, AK47 will win. if they were both pro ofcourse. Sl has a better chance if both player were newbs. -
It depends...
You are here to say what is the best gun, right?
Well, I think it depends on the situation, people are different, and some players do better with uzi then with scar light, i love m4 but i do better with my ak47, because I've got skills with it, my friend ([PlayFox*) is better with scar because he plays different then me.
That's my opinion.

No, it's a comparison and evaluation of each weapon to know what is best for what situation and what sort of player. From reading this, the AK74, Steyr AUG A1 and G36K are weapons that would easily suit me. -
itas a good xplanation, but i still go for scarlyt, but its not really good gun to attack if ur opponent had the ak47,i agree wth that, but scarlight is the best gun 4 meOk, there is nothing new in this post because it has been mentioned before. I owned and tried almost 99% of the guns.

Accuracy = ACC
Thanks,
Arto -

Well a lot of time and effort spent on this post, I understand why it's sticky. However it's slightly biased. You are obviously not a user or much in favour of the AK47, however opposite feelings towards the SL. Personally AK47's my favourite weapon. At first I thought of it as a hideous gun that had no purpose with me and had horrible spray. But it turns out I was wrong ^^. At any rate I'm not writing a story, I'm going to go and play. Over and out -UnderAlias

The only thing you forgot to mention that the M4's EXTREMELY low power makes it almost useless if you miss a headshot against some skilled SL'er or AK'er. And this happens. Now it might be only my opinion, but M4's very dengerous. For user as for the targets. The most balanced weapon still stays the scar, wich is a perfect balance between firepower and accuracy. XM8 might be good too, but it's close range usefull only. Same goes for G36K wich is just a bigger and heavier SMG. Basically I use two kits:
A runner kit (Wich also shares support functionnality):
- P90 (Lightweight for speed runs, large clip and fast FR wich enables covering and support functions.)
- P228 (Lighter than a DGL, and can be usefull for those gaps wich you can't do with a deagle but wich you prefer not to gap with a knife at the risk of being shot.)
- Smoke (Usefull for quick retry and reload or hit and run tactics.)
And a sniper kit wich is a standart AWM and DGL-C. I used to have an assault/overall kit composed of a Scar L and a DGL-C too. -
Well this is a very good guide but the thread starter is favoring a gun over other (M4A1) and giving his own opinion by giving his own preferences so I don't think this deserves a sticky.
For eg. I don't like the m4 at all but according to him m4 is best gun so this is unequal importance given to one member's opinion over the other by the STAFF which is not good.
P.S. - I am not challenging staff or anything, its just what I think.
dude m4a1 is the best gun ever.
well we can help it if some ******s think 1 + 1 = 3 -

The most balanced weapon definitely is not the scar. the M4 is the MOST balanced weapon, average speed, average rof, average attack. average everything. even though it seems less stable due to the lesser requirement for the gun, it's still one of the most stable guns in the gun. compare to SL. which has a delayed recoil which makes the recoil go away slower, even with a tiny amount of recoil, it eventually becomes big due to repeated tapping. compared to m4. the recoil during movement is bigger definitely, but the speed recoil cools down is increased by more then 2 times. which allows it for plently of taps, mutitaps during strafese etc. -
which allows it for plently of taps, mutitaps during strafese etc.
Compare the power of an M4 with the power of SL. You won't even have to tap several times if you know how to aim. M4 IS weaker than SL in power. M4's Recoils DOES grow faster, even if it goes down faster too. And finally, I don't know lots of people who would prefer to counter snipe with an M4 rather than an SL. M4's damage seems reduced ++ at bigger distances. Medium to close it IS usefull, but in long range it's same as comparing an AWM to a M700. The M4 CAN kill, but scar does it better.
