XM8 does also have a scope

M4A1:

Has most accuracy.
Cheapest cost.
Ease of use.
Copes with most situations.

XM8:

Has the lowest recoil.
Almost does 100% damage shooting through walls (no joke here).
Has the most power.
Has the most range out of the guns.

G36K:

Has the fastest firing rate.
Most reliable sights.
Fastest reload time.
Performs similar to an SMG, in which case it is superior to most SMGs.

Therefore, the G36K is the best for Close Quarters Combat with it's high firing rate and fast reload time. It is best used for rushers and ambushers. The XM8 also is decent up close with the power and reload time but it's best at medium to long range firing. The M4A1 is your cheap, reliable and accurate all arounder weapon and is the easiest to use. It is best used if you lack skill, are learning different tactics or want a weapon that can cope with most situations, though in many situations it can be beaten by other guns specialized in that situations (such as the G36K, AK47 and Steyr AUG A1).
