How much experience is needed for each level promotion?

I have a doubt because at the level I'm currently at, they're asking me for 9,000,000 to promote me and it seems quite exaggerated to me. I've been playing almost daily for 3 years and I've barely gone from 2,000,000 to 4,000,000 experience. Is this a joke?
