FPS drop on Shadow mode

Hello all,

I was doing the anniversary event and I got surprise. I played for the first time the Shadow mode. Could someone explain how my fps dropped from 150 with 16 players in any mode to 15 fps in Shadow mode?

It is normal?

Best regards,
vLz

  • I have the same problem. Saw some lesser fps drops in escape too, wasn't only me either, as people were micro teleporting (staggering) now and then. But not as severe as in shadow-mode. I checked and every time I looked at a ghost who were semi transparent, the FPS dropped to 9-15. But It dropped down to around 20-30 no matter what in that mode.

Keep in mind MOD's are actually normal players as any other players, no access on server side or dev side.

But i can share my own experience with FPS on last two GPU i use:

    PC:
    i5 8600 @ 3.1 GHz
    32 GB RAM

    GPU1:
    GTX 1060 , 3 GB @ 192 bits :
    max FPS around 200
    average FPS 160
    min FPS 100

So i set FPS limit to 120 from nvidia driver and seems to be more stable , drops 10 or max 20 FPS was bearly visible

    GPU2 (in use):
    GTX 1070ti , 8 GB @ 256 bits:
    max FPS 230
    average FPS 200
min FPS 160 only in ZM

Overall big FPS spikes are only occur in ZM , else are not visible so i don set any FPS limit

I use a GTX 560, 2 GB @ 256 bits, 3-4 years ago, at that time max FPS 180, mid 140, min 90.. as far as i remember

In the end from my personal experience beside a minimal quad core CPU and minimal 8 GB RAM in dual channel, the GPU must have dedicated RAM with a bandwidth of 256 bits for a more stable FPS, will work also in 192 bits, but limit FPS to a mid value is recommended, as for 128 bit - the limit FPS is a must because spikes can go from 200 to 90... as for GPU with ram on 64 bits , well those are for office purpose mainly, so trying diffrent FPS limit and rez. may work but personally i don't have much expectation.

P.S Not play shadow lately so i don't have any FPS results on that mode, i will edit later.[/QUOTE]

I think it is because many of us, who have problems, are using AMD Radeon. The 64b update doesn't seem to work well for us, as that's when the worst troubles started. To me it's just as problematic with limited FPS or without any limitation of it. The drops are just as bad either way. I think the game needs some compatibility update for Radeon cards, before these problems are over.

I absolutely agree with this and have also encountered huge problems since the upgrade to 64bit. Obviously I'm an AMD user. I hope there is a dedicated patch as soon as possible to fix the problem.
  • I got this problem fix. Basically, for some reason, I had the compatibility on just for windows XP, I changed and I got decent fps.

    I hope this helps Painanator

Please try what I wrote above mate

I have tried it (though mine was at win 7 compatibility) , doesn't work for me and when I shut the win 7 comp off, I get the trouble with CF starting in the right corner again.
