Crossfire Installation, not working cf_patcher us is only running in the background

Hello gamers,

I have a new system
Win 10 Pro
Ryzen 5 3600
5700 XT etc.
All drivers updated , I can play all other games without any issues.
I tried to install crossfire but the patcher_cf us process only run in the background and nothing happens.

I added crossfire to my exclusion list and I even allowed everything in my firewall to go in and out (just for testing purposes).
Windows Defender, Virus, Firewall and realtime protection were disabled.

Reinstalled it many times, I´m still running into the same scenario.
The patcher_cf us process only runs in the background and nothing else happens.

All Compatibility modes were even tried.

Any other tips or suggestions , how to get this game runnning ?
I tried to install it on my old win 8.1 laptop and even there the same problem.
A friend of mine with brandnew alienware laptop is even facing the same issues...

Kind regards,
Grschlk

  • I´m having the exact same problem. Game was running normally until 3 days ago, then crashed without any error. After that, patcher_cf us only was running in the background. I reinstalled the game several times, even set up my computer again. I also turned off the firewall for testing purposes, nothing helped. Please help...

    Thanks!
  • What a pity that so many players are facing this issue and nothing is happening...it seems there is no interest to invest "something".
  • Hey together,
finally i was able to solve this issue.
The problem was only related to LAN, i was able to start the game via WLAN and was then able to activate LAN again and play via LAN without problems.

So i asked the Support of my Fritz.box Router why this problem can happen only to LAN. They didnt know, but recommended to update the Fritzbox OS from 07.19 to the Fritz.box Labor Version (Beta of 7.20).
I did the update and crossfire was able to start from LAN :)

So from my opinion try the following things:
1.) Try to remove the network(lan) cable and start crossfire with WLAN
2.) Update the fritz.box router OS to the newest beta or wait for the official 7.20 release.

My fritz.box was the 6591 Cable.
Maybe all other players also have a fritz.box?
