This is an issue with your connection. I do know that, because with a VPN software you can skip this problem; but using a VPN is illegal. Warning: Please, don't use a VPN software.
Add CrossFire to the exception list of Windows Firewall. Routers, firewalls, anti-virus software can occasionally interfere with your connection to CrossFire. You should provide or make "exceptions" (put CrossFire in the list of safe programs) so that the game can pass through any security settings you may have enabled. You can check how to add CrossFire to the exceptions list by visiting the website of the router/anti-virus providers.
Add the entire crossfire folder to your antivirus exceptions. Check if the entire CrossFire folder (Usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Z8Games\CrossFire) is added to your Antivirus and Firewall exceptions. Re-enable real-time protection.
Make sure that a "network adapter" or "Virtual Network Adapter" does not impact or affect this. Like Hamachi, Ethernet 2, Tunngle, VPN, etc. You can deactivate the ones you don't use anymore.
