A screenshot of the error helps quite a lot to determine the solution for the error.

When that HGW window closes and you open cf again and press play do you get a message saying along the lines of another similar program is already running in the background?

Where do you live? Maybe it's your IP you can try resetting your router to get a different ip and see if it works.

Np, maybe someone else will come with other possible solutions. You said game works on a different internet connection, so I take it it's a different internet provider than the one you have. And the game worked fine before through your internet maybe your internet provider changed something on their end so maybe you can call them and ask maybe they might have an answer.

If all fails and you really want to play maybe switch to the internet provider where the game works.
