You should always click Get More Information when you get that message as it might give you the process that is causing the error. Any way do what it says, run a full system scan antivirus, check system configuration start up applications, remove or disabled unknown start up processes etc.

You shouldn't delete your firewall.. that's the system that's defending you from viruses in the first place.
If you have AVG just let it do a quick scan through your computer. I usually do this and it will find some Trojan's now and then and the scan would only take around 30 minutes ( depending on how much stuff you got on your computer ). -

Wrong way round, the antivirus stops viruses, the firewall controls incoming connections :P
