Bullet smoke/Bullet trace turned on by default?

Hey. After most recent patch i noticed, that both bullet smoke and bullet trace settings are unchecked. After further investigation, the settings seem to be on high, even when I put them on low. Is that done on purpose? Are you guys reworking those settings? Or is this change staying?
