Notebook screen res changes upon starting up cf
Dear developers,
Basically on every unit I try to play Crossfire Na on the screen resolution changes, whether it is
on a desktop or a notebook. It always happens and it's quite annoying.
On my desktop it is okay, it's playable but on my notebook that's just unbearable. Therefore I'm here
if there is ANY way to prevent the game upon starting up to change the default screen resolution it's
supposed to have from changing ? If so please enlighten me with how to do so.
This issue has been there since 2009, I only returned recently and I hoped such an issue would have
been fixed, but it seems not..
It has nothing to do with my notebook itself as it can perfectly run CS:GO, on medium/high settings and still get 120-200 fps.
So the default screen resolution on my notebook is 1920 by 1080, upon starting up Crossfire it changes it
to 1024 by 768. Whilst logged it changing it back to 1920x1080 has no effect because the game needs to be
rebooted in order to take effect, but then it changes it back to 1024x768.
I have tried leaving it on 1024x768 and tried every single in-game resolution but all of them are just not it, it's terrible
it doesn't feel right and is out of proportion or I can just see a part of of the screen I'm supposed to see as a whole, to explain this
further, imagine a square divided in 4 more squared, I would only see the top left square.
If needed I'l make screenshots of everything so you can clearly see what I mean.
Thanks in advance
Kind regards, Nebo

When I bought my new laptop, the game would scale accordingly. However, after activating the Nvidia experience on my laptop I had this issue to which you describe with dividing the screen into 4 corners and only having the top left visible. Before I figured it out I resorted to using a Windowed mode with a game resolution low enough that the window didn't exceed my laptops bounds and I didn't like it at all either.
However, eventually I remembered that in my Settings in the Display section there's an option for 'Scaling' which "Changes the size of text, apps, and other items" and it was set to 125% by default. By returning that setting to 100% it fixed my issue in CF where the game was expanding beyond what I could actually see. (the 4 square issue) but again this only happened to me after I activated my Nvidia Experience and it 'customized' my graphic settings to improve performance when running games.
I'm not sure if that is the situation for you or not considering you've said this is an issue since 2009 for you. I never had the issue on my W7 laptop but certainly did on my W10. I believe there was another option that involved temporarily using windowed mode and changing a number in a file somewhere to force it to work appropriately as well. I'll see if I can't find that....edit: try these maybe?
