Yeah... I don't think this is a bug. It's always been like this since day one.

I think it's just a bug that got ignored for so long that people started to think it's part of the game. Defusing through walls isn't exactly realistic. But then again neither are ghosts that breathe like Darth Vader and turn invisible when they jump backwards.
