FPS suddenly drops for no reason..

That's a common theme for a lot of people in CrossFire.
CrossFire itself is quite CPU Intensive, and generally, The Engine CrossFire operates on isn't the optimized Engine in the shed.
It usually just comes and goes, and I don't really know any kind of fix for it that might consistently work. -

I've gotta say my whole pc performance is terrible right now... not only crossfire.... even using youtube has changed to the worst -
If you have a game booster of any kind that might help, but you'll have to customize it yourself instead of using the preset profiles on there because CF is such a wonky game.
To be honest... i think game boosters do nothing. I used to use Razer Game Booster but i don't remember it fixing any issue.... then i just got a better graphics card and a new hard drive, and i think this gave me the best performance ever. Then after a year of playing.. today it has suddenly got really bad. -
Hardware upgrades will always trump a program, that's just the way things work. Better hardware increases total performance whereas a gamebooster just halts background processes so that your PC won't be inhibited by them while running a game. This can only help to optimize performance not increase it like new hardware does.To be honest... i think game boosters do nothing. I have the same problem, drop fps often occur. Watch video

Most of players have the same issue. This happens when one of 3 granades from the weekly missions (idk if that's how it's called...) explode. You can get those granades from finishing the 5th mission for playing 300 minutes of cf. Those are Pumpkin nade, Ghost Baby nade and the 3rd one, dunno how it's called.
This bug is here for a while now.

I think there is some miss-understanding... my fps doesn't drop 1 second and then returns to normal like yours.... it just dropped suddenly and permanently to 30. and i don't think this is common. They thought i had your issue... those 0.5sec drops are pretty normal. What is not normal is having a great pc and failing you real bad for no reason... just like what happened to me.
