*patch client is already running*

u opened it before the game shut down. just restart ur pc

i have this problem too

i turn on computer, wait until windows loads fully, then open crossfire and click start game.
the splash gameguard comes up, then nothing... for an HOUR! at least. then all of a sudden the game opens up.
in that time windows is unbearably slow i mean to the point of MAKING me press the power button i am lucky if i get crossfire to play.

this all started after reinstalling windows on my computer... before that the game ran great. any help please?


i also tried ctrl alt del to end game guard so i can try again but i cannot find it in the processes list....?

Expand taskbar, make sure GameGuard is not running, if it is there will be an icon in taskbar.

Reinstall Crossfire if not working after rebooting PC as this problem is normally solved after you reboot your PC

I have this problem too please help me, game guard is not running and i restarted my PC. What i have to do? reinstall crossfire will resolve this problem? Thanks for support.

if your running xp when you bring up task manger the progress bar is at the top it should be a tap right next to applications then processes then performance is right next to it i hoped i helped with that part abd next time you get the game to load and your on a channel go into your setting not the desktop one but the game settings and turn the video to low it will help it run faster on your computer good luck:))

2. try and if not.
3. reinstall Cf.

(P.S. run as admin if u have vista or windows 7 64 or 84 bit)

Yeh gameguard down...

Some time then i tried to start the game and it fails, it says to me "failed to download version.ini."

1. open task manager (ctrl + alt + delete)

2. go to processes

3. look for crossfire.exe in the list

4. end process.

it doesn't work, besides turning of avast is unsafe. i just need the recent patch. when i go to start the game it freezes and wont download the patch. ive tryed reinstalling, restrting, turning off avast, runing the ''selfpatch'' in the game directory and nothing is working if anyone could get my a link or something to the actual patch so i can manualy download it i could be in game riping it up. thanks

Make sure windows firewall doesnt block crossfire cuz this happend to me when i played a other game.

i did that, and it has stoped saying it, but now i click start game and nothing happens? do you no why?
