Game wont launch

A friend of mine had the same problem, what he did to fix it is log in his computer as guest account: Find out how you can do that:

He re-installed crossfire from there. then it worked.

What kind of Antivirus you have?

For AVG:

Step 1

Double-click the AVG icon in the bottom-right corner of the taskbar -- in the system tray -- to open the AVG Control Panel.


Step 2

Double-click "Anti-Virus" in the Control Panel to view its settings.



Step 3

Click the "Manage exceptions" button.


Step 4

Click the "Add Path" button to add an entire folder to the Exceptions list or "Add File" button to add a single file to the list.


Step 5

Select the folder or file and click "OK" to add it to the Exceptions list.


Step 6

Click "Apply" to apply the new settings.


Step 7

Click "OK" to close the AVG Advanced Settings window.

For Norton:
To add a folder to SONAR exclusions:

Open up the N360 interface.

Select the "Settings" tab.

Select "Antivirus" from the Detailed Settings field.

Under the "Scans and Risks" tab, scroll down to the bottom

Locate the "Exclusions / Low Risks" section

Next to "Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR...etc" click on "Configure [+]"

A window should pop up labeled "Real Time Exclusions"

Click "Add" and browse for your games folder. Don't select a specific file, just select the entire game folder.
Be sure to check the box for "Include subfolders"

Click "OK"

Click "Apply"
