Have you made sure you have un-install properly? E.g. Deleting the CrossFire folder, I know many people who forget to do this.
Follow these steps:- Control Panel -> Z8Games -> CrossFire -> Uninstall CrossFire.
- Open Up My Computer.
- Delete the CF directory (Program Files/Z8Games/CrossFire/)
- Delete the CF directory (<user>/Document/CrossFire/) (Make sure you backup any screenshots or replays you may have before doing this).
- Disable your anti virus.
- Download the newest client from our downloads site.
- Install the game from the new download.
- Add the entire crossfire folder to your antivirus exceptions.
- Re-enable realtime protection.
- Start CrossFire as Admin.
I hope that has helped.

That never work's 87% of the time.Unless it's something not very difficult to solve. -
Im having problems with Svchost too, it takes up about 2 gigs of memory for no reason and slows down my PC. Every time I turn my PC on, I have to close svchost.
Windows 7: task manager > Performance > Resource monitor > memory > right click svchost > End process. This fixes it for me. Searched for a perm solution but didn't find any.
