Failed to download version .ini.

i downloaded the game twice and whenever i start the game it always says 'failed to download version .ini.'

Please help me, i have not played the game since last year so please, if anyone of you know this kind of situation. please reply. Thanks

First thing you should try is to run CrossFire as admin. Second thing you should do is, add CrossFire and X-Trap to your safe list on your anti-virus and firewall.

If CrossFire still does not work for you, you should delete your current "version.ini" and download this fresh copy: http://www.speedyshare.com/FCEJ2/version.ini

For the future an easy fix would be to locate your crossfire folder, open it, then locate your version.ini file and right click on it, click properties then uncheck the read only slot. Then apply and save changes, after that you want to open up your version.ini file, delete everything and copy and paste everything from this link into the version.ini file http://cfpatch.z8games.com/download/version.ini After you've copied and pasted everything from that link into your version.ini file you want to save changes and close it. Then again you want to right click your version.ini file, click properties, check read only, apply and save changes, then your game should work
