Larger Calibre Weapons

Why not have larger calibre weapons? Since CF is supposed to be based on mercenaries and not real military, larger calibre weapons would be a good idea since mercenaries like to use them and military don't. I think the biggest in CF right now is the AWM and that seems to only be a .50 weapon. Why not add an elephant rifle (.700 calibre) or even add the .950 JDJ. The .950 JDJ would be fun to have for a rifle since as they always say, "It's for when overkill just isn't enough". If not, even just ones like the .600 Overkill, or even the .577 T-Rex since they would just be fun to shoot in-game.

  • Why stop there? Why not ask for an Abraham Tank? Surely if your pee-pee is THAT small, you would want to overcompensate with the biggest guns out there, right?

That was mean and uncalled for.. But that's what made it funny.
  • Sorry, I show no mercy for the stupid. We already have the AK-47 and the AWM. Both of them are basically 1 shot killing machines. And yet STILL I come across noobs begging for the Barrett .50 cal and what not.
  • AWM is .308 not .50 cal... but larger calibre weapons as you said are more common amongst mercenaries than actual military. Particularly rifle cartridges that were common in WW2 such as 7.92mm and .303 calibre.
  • Lol..

For the person who said it was stupid to add the Barret .50 cal obviously doesn't understand the difference in mechanics. One is a straight-bolt action. The other is a semi-automatic with an often 10 round standard clip, what ZPer WOULDN'T want that? And since it is heavier and would be steadier by this fact, it would be greater for reflex shots.
  • Not to mention they probably would also love the fact it is just different. I got the Anaconda (So do a bunch of other people) just for the show and feel. It adds more content, and more fun. Yay for logic.

    EDIT button FTW?

On Topic: This GAME is supposed to be somewhat fair (I know, it's not ALWAYS fair but meh...).
  • A quick note about game design.

The game has to be ultimately 'fun' to play. Larger Calibre weapons aren't off the table, but if you want a realistic larger calibre weapon it has to be balanced in such a way that it won't dominate the game.

Some sort of .50 cal single shot rifle would just function the same way as an AWM, which is essentially a 1-shot kill sniper rifle.

So the possibilities of a weapon that similar to the AWM are probably not going to be considered.

Think about what might end up being fun before just hammering off a bunch of real-life weapons. In the real world weapons aren't designed for fun factor, they're designed for efficient killing of the enemy. Which doesn't translate to fun weapons in a video game.

read the thread you warrock noob, it says no major calibre weapons, tanks, grenade launchers...
  • Saidin, the point of it is just that. A semi-auto AWM is kinda looking over kill, but in real life you can't just fire off a .50 cal in semi-auto the same way you aim a bolt-action, it would require unscoping, rescoping (which might help make it fair) or something such as the same rate of fire because the recoil.
  • It's impractical for the close quarters combat we see in Crossfire. Plus it won't add a new element of fun into the game as it's pretty much a semi auto AWM. You need it to be unique somehow. Think of it like the AK47 and AK47 knife. The AK47 knife is like a regular AK47, except it comes with a bayonet which is fun to kill with like a shovel.

Great point... Nough said. (Sorry if this has been pointed out already to me.)
