Delete your gameguard folder in your Crossfire Directory.
It should be automatically repatched, the next time you'll start Crossfire.
If it doesnt, download the game Setup again from the Download Mirrors or Alternative Download Mirrors on the website.
If these dont work for you, try it with these Mirrors:

Ensure, that Crossfire.exe, gameguard.mon and gameguard.des files got full access through your firewall and turn your Antivirus program off for the Installation.
If you got Windows Vista / Windows 7, run the Setup and Gamestart as Administrator.
These steps should help you to solve that issue with Crossfire

Do you have AVG (free) and upgraded it to ver 9?
I have and now the game won't start.
There are a number of people complaining to AVG about this so keep fingers crossed if you have it.
ok just download another decent AntiVirus like Symantic or NOD32. -
im j/w do you have avg 9.0?
caus i recently updated and my cf takes like 10 minutes to load first time i open it since i switch on my pc.
i mean gg comes up and then blank... i can do things like i didnt even start cf. then 10 mins later it opens and sum avg thing always stops working but i close that. close cf. restart cf and it loads normally.

I'm having the same problem, also XP but I'm not using AVG =X I did evething on that list, none of it changed a thing. Keep trying I was 1k from lvling xD -
