  • I suggest losing the black borders or at least toning it down, looks like around 60% of the video is blacked out and it's hard to see what's going on in the video since it's so small. Live footage / more footage would be nice. Just my thoughts.

What dimensions are you editing/exporting the video in? And what dimensions are you recording at?

Thanks for your advises! Right now I am able to remove the black borders and such and I will put more footage for sure :)

I am using fraps so I am recording at 1024 x 728 and I am rendering the video in .wmv 8Mbps HD 1080-30p
  • better than first one, but have you considered recording ingame?

Pretty much sums it up. Hard to even tell for the first frag that you got a kill.

I understand that you edited it like that to get rid of the replay borders, more likely, but a better way would be to do it like that, then stretch, to fill the dimensions of the video.

Yeah I know how to get rid of replay borders now :) So you won't see them again in my other videos.
  • Music sync was good, but i thought the frags where kinda lame.

Also like the above said the blackness around was a little too much, but i think you have figured that out.

Keep it simple, sync the music well, and get good frags. You will get a ton of subs that way.
  • Your recording are at 4:3 while YouTube is optimized for 16:9. There are a few options for dealing with this problem:

    1. Do nothing: You can choose to leave the video as it is and edit at the source dimensions. Black bars will be displayed on the sides of your video when you upload it.

    2. Stretch the video: Personally I don't like it when people do this because it distorts the video, I'd rather watch it with the black bars. But it's an option.

    3. Crop the video: Some of the top and bottom of your video will be removed (the greyed out bits will be cut off), but you won't get black bars and the video won't be stretched. Part of your minimap, killfeed, and killmarks will be cut off as a result of this. Doesn't look too bad in my opinion; if I did this I'd probably add some blurring at the top of the video where the killfeed/minimap are. If cut-off killmarks bother you then you can just remove your killmarks. In my opinion, this looks better than stretching the video.

If you choose to crop, here's what it looks like when you crop a 1024x768 replay. If you crop it a little further, you can completely remove the replay toolbar options. You can also use the delete key "Del" to toggle the HUD in replays. Without a HUD, it crops pretty cleanly.

Anyways these are just some alternative for what you did; I play and record at 16:9 so I don't have this problem. Hope this helps you.
