Oh No! I'm a HACKER Apparently...
CrossFire seems to think I have a hack tool. It tells me, "Hack tool has been detected (1) (0:4:0:0)" and then bans me for a few minutes. However, it doesn't tell me this until after it kills my internet all together, TS3 and Skype both went down as the map half-way loads and then I get some version of "sorry you can't play." It worked just fine yesterday, but nope, not today. I am just pretty sure this poorly optimized game is held together by spit and duct tape, seeing as it overrides Windows functions like opening Task Manager. I guess this will go into my games "that used to be cool" category along with Dark Orbit, Combat Arms, and America's Army.

You should Watch what programs you have open when you start the patcher, because some can be misstaken as hacking programs.
Once i got banned for 4 hours... when i ran battlefieldheroes launcher, after i re-installed it and Went to play crossfire while it loaded -.- -
What antivirus program are you using?
And you Always have some programs open... Always.
Check on taskmanager Before you start crossfire! (:
Sophos antivirus, you're right, i meant non special programs just a lot of standard system programs -

It appears that I am not the only person having these problems as the forum seems to be filling with the same problems I've been having. So I guess we wait until Z8 fixes their game; and in the meantime I get to reflect on the money I wasted on ZP items that are expiring without use because I can't play the game. Wonderful.

Here's some information.
That particular error code is usually associated with a disconnect between your game client and the anti hacking tools that are placed within the game.
The "ban" isn't actually placed on your account from our level, the game may kick you out cause it detects an odd function or a connection issue as mentioned above. But it won't ban you.
As for your entire internet dying because of that, this is the first I've heard of that. I'm not entirely sure what could be going on in that situation.
If you get this error, try closing down the game and then reopening the game and connect as normal. It's frustrating but having a clean start and the ability to then get back in the game is a good base-level for us to help figure out what could be going wrong.
In addition, Anti Virus programs have been known to cause issues. Especially if they scan the game while it's running etc. The Anti Hack programs often do checks on your computer and a scan or a/v might block that connection which causes the problems.
Try disabling the A/V while you play CF (as a test). If that works, then I would recommend adding CF and X-Trap folders and programs to your whitelisted programs on your A/V.
The one you are using is not one we're entirely familiar with, so this could very well be the issue. -

I'm getting this error quite often too, usually after about 4-5 games. The error only occurs when I'm in game, not in storage, not in shop, not in Black Market, ONLY when I'm playing the game. But it doesn't crash anything else besides the game. All I do then is restart my computer and play again.
Solution tried:-- re-installation of CF
I use Norton & have Crossfire + Xtrap allowed under firewall.
Even though I play with Norton being off. There are no extra programs running in the back(checked under Task Manager).
