The Solution to MOST Problems
The Solution to Most Problems
In the most recent patches, there has been a significant amount of errors coming up for many users. Though you may think Z8Games is at fault for these errors, you're most likely wrong. In the event that the solution below doesn't work, please post your problem below, or create a new thread stating your problem, and hopefully our community will attend to your problem.
Understanding -
Anti-virus programs have always been very over-protective, meaning they block anything in site that could potentially be hazardous towards your computer. As ridiculous as it might sound, the anti-virus software you own is most likely causing all of your problems with Crossfire. In Crossfire's case, anti-virus software has trouble trusting X-Trap and the patchers, which could be anything from the installation, to a simple maintenance patch. Your anti-virus software cleanses the patch, or installation file, and corrupts it, creating error extravaganza! Below is a 7 step solution, follow it, and hopefully this will help you.
Solution -
Follow this correctly, and hopefully your problem will be fixed. If not, post your problem below, or create a new thread in the Technical Support section, and our community will tend to your thread.
1. Choose one method from below; top to bottom (most recommended to least)
(a) Disable/turn off your anti-virus/firewall (Avast!, Windows Firewall, AVG, etc.)
(b) Uninstall your anti-virus/firewall (best result, reinstall after last step)
(c) Add Crossfire client to your anti-virus/firewalls exceptions list
2. Uninstall Crossfire (Start; Control Panel; Add or Remove Programs; Crossfire)
3. Delete the Z8Games folder (located in C:/Program Files/Z8Games)
4. Download a new installer here (required, do not use an old installer)
5. Install Crossfire (keeping in mind that there are no anti-virus software running!)
6. Restart your computer (highly recommended)
7. Run Crossfire (also reinstall your anti-virus software, but do this AFTER you've ran crossfire)
That is it! This is the simple solution that fixes the majority of the errors. Your files should no longer be corrupt, and if they are, and you're still receiving errors, go back to step one and choose a different method from the one you chose. Uninstalling your anti-virus may sound unsafe, but remember it's only for a short period of time, and you can redownload it afterwards.

If I was not clear with something, and you're looking for an explanation, I'd be glad to assist you, along with the rest of our helping hands. Please post below if you're still having issues; and hopefully we can figure out your unique solution.
