Are we getting anything for this downtime?
I vote for 50% sale on vip-weapons for 1-2 days.
If you can't even hold the servers up against some simple ddos program. Then you can't charge 80 bucks for a darn gun.
You can buy new pc parts for those prices lol.The question I ask is: If you sell zp for such soaring prices. Why can't you afford a better ddos protection?

No compensation plan is going to be determined and announced while the problem still exists.
In addition please note that all assumptions about why the servers were down are simply assumptions.
And for the record, the last time we had some type of severe outage on our servers was in the first week of July. That is nearly 5 months of "holding the servers up".
Some downtime is expected, it happens to all games across all platforms. Issues get resolved and we move forward. -

You're absolutely right. However, 5 months is not nearly as long as it should be considering the servers are what allows us to play. Yes, downtime is expected but I always wonder what they actually use with the money they make off of ZP. Some more stable networking wouldn't be a bad investment if they want continuous ZP purchases. Not to mention that it's common sense to buy better hardware, replace flaky ones, etc. Not to mention learning from past outages. I think there needs to be better management over in the server room. -

Thumbs up -

Stable networking WAS achieved. Considering downtime prior to our upgrades was probably once every 1-2 days.
To go once in 5 months seems like a fairly legitimate expense.
Your frustration, and your logic are understandable. But understand that no matter who you deal with a decision to upgrade technology is not made over night.
Yes, the server downtime this weekend was not good, we definitely recognize that, and we will work something into the mix to help ease the pain from the users standpoint.
But a decision to upgrade to a stable network was made, many months ago, and the network has been stable. Now since a hole in the plan has been shown, it's time we figure out a new way to fix it.
But that solution is not going to be some light switch that gets turned on which miraculously fixes the entire problem over night. Even if we wanted and were able to change networks immediately it would still probably take days of planning and preparation to change that kind of infrastructure.
Since you seem to be a fairly logical person, I am sure you can see this.
A problem with a network only shows when there is a problem. Up until Yesterday there was no problem with our infrastructure. Now that we have identified one, we'll fix it and move forward. -

Thank you for the prompt response. I completely understand that decisions dealing with an infrastructure of Crossfire's magnitude will take time, if any need to be made. I just wish these kinds of responses are made more public more frequently. The most frustrating thing from the customer's standpoint is being left in the dark. Hopefully an update will be announced soon. Thank you for clearing things up for me, Saidin.
