Well, this error is motivated by many factors, your PC may be downloading updates, Download some may be open, you may have left your browser open, your antivirus may be locking your game client.Try to check if there's nothing open or Download open, and also have the issue of your Internet connection.

Have you recently changed your internet service provider? Have you changed/modified any of the Crossfire files? There are a number of reasons this could be happening. Make sure your internet connection is solid, and that you are playing in the server nearest you.
