UPoints unuseable?

So I bought a $20 Ultimate Game Card and I wanted to buy 10k zp for me and then give 10k zp to my friends account. So I redeemed it for 10k zp and then the rest went into my ultimate points account. So then I went to deposit and ugc then buy as gift. then I put is in game name in, then it redirected me. I log into my UP account and then it asks if I want to use my UPoints to pay. I click use 899 points to pay (something like that), but then it just redirects me to redeem a card code. What happened? I tried to do it 5 times. did I get scammed? is it a glitch what?
