Game Boosters
Alright, so I have been playing Crossfire for about 1 year now. Now since my laptop isn't the greatest for gaming, I have been using Razor: Game Booster to help run CF. But just a few hours ago, while clan warring, my crossfire froze and showed me an X-Trap screen saying that apparently it thinks my Game Booster is a hacking tool.
It's quite torturous not using the Razor: Game Booster. Could you please tell me why X-Trap is doing this?
Thank you.

Can you post a screenshot of the X-Trap report the next time it pops up please? -

As long as it shows up, it will be there. X-Trap doesn't close the pop-up until the client itself closes. If you feel that it is hard to get the screenshot, try to record it. The Trial Version FRAPS offers for 30 second recording(Don't remember if it's still that) or using xFire's recorder may help. Just trim out the unnecessary parts using Windows Movie Maker and upload to YouTube. -

Alright, well here's a screenshot:

Alright. So there's the error. It's not GameBooster itself that is causing a problem. It's a function that GameBooster provides that is. That FPS.dll is the problem. Unfortunately, X-Trap does NOT allow most overlays through CrossFire. The FPS.dll creates an overlay through CrossFire, which is just that FPS in the corner of your screen. Now, you have to disable that function(should be somewhere in settings) and than X-Trap should stop giving you the error. Meaning, you can use GameBooster, just not utilize the FPS overlay that GameBooster provides while playing CrossFire. Hopefully this cleared up your confusion! -

Wise Game Booster is another version of Game Booster, hosted by a different company.Creative_S wrote: »Dont use gamebooster uninstall that crap. Just use smartclose before you play Cross Fire.
SmartClose has a history of corrupting some applications, rendering explorer.exe to not fully function. It also doesn't work on all OS platforms that it states that it does. -

Never had a problem with it on Windows 7. It was slightly slower on XP but then again my XP system had no netframe work 4.0. -

You may not have a problem with Windows 7, but the program doesn't work well with Windows XP, doesn't work at all for Windows Vista. A little skeptical for Windows 8. It also depends on what architecture Windows 7 you're running on. Some programs are limited to 32-bit or 64-bit. -

I have both 32 bit and 64bit on windows 7 and have never got a single problem. -

Well then maybe it's only geared for Windows 7 and maybe 8. People still play on older OS's as well. CNET's review rating is a 5/5. User rating is a 3/5. So it's all up to the user. -

Cited proof pl0x?
Mine has worked fine with XP and 7. And who cares about Vista? If you're still on Vista you got bigger problems than increasing your FPS. -

your so called razor game boost is no more accepted by xtrap - i think is detected as a virtual machine
You could boost manually your pc by closing all unusefull process from windows (must search google before how to do-it and what process you can safe disable), switch to windows classic windows display (means to close AERO graphic on win7)
OR you can use Advanced System Care 6 or TuneUp Utilites - they have a Boost tool witch make all those thinks for you: disable a lots of win process like: schedule task, win update, PC LAN view, sync with some device, handwriting support, etc, etc, etc, and free more RAM and CPU usage - basically those thinks are do by those BOOST programs .
So you can do by yourself or try another program to do-it since razor boost use a method that is no more accepted by xtrap.
GameBooster isn't technically considered a Virtual Machine software. It also isn't a macro program either. It still runs fine with CF. You just can't allow any Overlay options to work while playing CF. -
Alright, well I disabled the overlay, but now my ping is spiking everywhere. (It does this every time before X-trap pops up with an error)Crimson_Wolf wrote: »GameBooster isn't technically considered a Virtual Machine software. It also isn't a macro program either. Well Latency and the FPS overlay from Gamebooster aren't related. It may be another program on your computer that is currently taking bandwidth or someone on your network is downloading/uploading/streaming something. -
I actually found out what it's doing. Everytime I restart GameBooster, the FPS overlay resets itself to on.Crimson_Wolf wrote: »Well Latency and the FPS overlay from Gamebooster aren't related. So I want to thank you so much for your help ^^
