The EQ's are not banned, but instead warned for the community to see. As the EQ's are kind of like a third party program to give you an advantage of hearing something over others.. We do just warn NOT ban. Please note that we have a policy written up and that states how we run our anticheat/client for crossfire: http://ocgaming.org/forums/showthread.php?637-OCG-Policy-Change

I ll quote the rules of OCG Right here, Original one copy paste from OCG Forum at the OCG XClient Post, where u can get it to download.

Using chat programs like X-Fire
System hardware configurations
Updated system drivers, such as video card drivers"
Word to word copied, paste. Stand of 24.08.2013 05:30 EST
First of all. If u dont want an Equalizer which is just used for one programm, so u can use it on games, u will need a soundcard which has a equalier INCLUDED IN DRIVERS (look above at the rules).
Second of all: Equalizer IS A PART OF THE HARDWARE SETTINGS. (look above at ur own rules)
3rd: Every soundcard u can find which says "gaming" and hasnt got a Equalizer, will be set by default to a "gaming" equalizer sound. if u dont believe me, spend the money and buy for example, Sennheiser PC333D. It has a Soundcard with it. Install it, use the headset with this soundcard, and then with onboard once and normal Equalizer settings. Oh, look their, difference. Equalizer Settings is one of the part "mTw helped them developing" with. In generally in "Professional gaming", and i think OCG wants to be one of this, it is public to change Equalizer settings. Try this out: Use just the low parts of ur equalizer. so u get alot of bass. u wont be able to say where they come from anymore. Even in SnD its really used alot.
4th: Check the soundcards of Creative. Soundblaster Z and Recon3D both, ve the "scout mode" now guess what the "scout mode" which is created for gaming, really does. RIGHT it changes the EQ settings. This mode is only made for people who dont know how to set their EQs, its a really bad once cuz it uses all the bass to make sure u hear them, but u dont know where they come from. In anyway. it changes the Equalizer settings without showing u. so its forbidden to use a part of my soundcard, which is created for gaming?
5th: If u are going that way, i want u to tell me which Brightness i should use (changes the way my screen looks like) and ofc if i m allowed to overclock my CPU. Might be my PC works better after i overclocked it, is that fair?
If you guys ask me, u should think about what u r going here. Forbidd Equalizers, will make this to a joke, not to a professional gaming challange.

If you guys dont believe me, go to creative or to one of the professional (really professional) gaming clans, like mTw. Ask them if they changed their own equalizer settings for a better locating of footsteps.
Its public, its known in every case of professional gaming, and even if we arent mTw players here, we should be allowed to use the same tools.

And equalizer is not necessary. I used to main GM and I've never found the need for one. Especially in a tournament. Not to mention, there are a few select silenced weapons allowed so it makes it kinda pointless eh? Other than the fact that it increases a ghost's breath. -

It has been allowed in every Tournament and every Gm Player is using EQ. With my headset its impossible to pinpoint without Eq, same for others.
Its something like a main thing in gm. -

I m gonna point a few more things:
I have 2 headsets laying next to me. How ever, if i use same Equalizer settings ob both, it sounds different. Thats not a wonder i know, but this is the case of "advantage by different sound" u mean as well? so tell me what kind of headphones i should use.
In the Equalizer u can set next to ur own settings, things like pop, rock, classic, flat and other stuff (depends on ur EQ). So tell me, they dont sound different to each other? u wont have advantage of any of these settings in opposide to another?
I really dont care if you used ur equalizer or not. The fact is, that teams get sponsored by Sennheiser like mTw gets, and they even help to set there EQ settings. Why do they use EQ? better locating of footsteps. Yep, GM players shouldnt be allowed to use, what every good CS team who even has sponsors and is famous are ALLOWED to use. You guys want to be competitve? What you are saying right here, makes u more look like u are trying to troll the whole E-Sport Community. Lets get on WCG forum tell them using Equalizer is a 3rd Party programm, and comparable with other cheats like Hacks and stuff. u think they will respect OCG for saying this? i dont think so.
If you dont need to use Equalizer, Congratulations, i guess u havent even got one cuz u use something like a Fatal1ty headset with USB (which has default EQ settings for gaming GG). Its your choice, if u are going to play with Equalizer or not. Most of all GM Players (as u can at all replys u ve got here) use Equalizers. and i am pretty sure even SnD ppl do. I m Sure Socks doesnt use high bass when they r going to play in a scrim.
Do me the favour, and go to ESL and/or WCG and ask them, if they bann people for using equalizers. GM Tournaments shouldnt be different. This is not cheating, u cant tell me how i want to listen to my sound. And if u want same advantage to every1, get me a ticket to US and pay the hotel for me. Otherwise I have a high ping on tourny. GG
EDIT: the point is, alot of things change the way of sound. another headset, another soundcard, another EQ Settings. No really serious E-Sports host will forbidd u to hear the sound the way u want, to use the brightness the way u want. as long as u dont use 3rd party programms (which are hacks for example and not ur drivers) they ll be fine. If OCG really trys to go that way, u guys wont become popular in E-Sports scene and making urself to a joke.
Thats my oppinion and i think alot of people here will agree. if not i ve no problems taking these topics and quotes do ESL forum and ask these people what they think about it.

Oh well, b4 i forget it, i m not using wrench or policebaton in gm. i m not using RPK in gm. so why isnt this forbidden too?
u see what i mean? dont use to make the rules how u r going to play gm. if u dont want to use ur EQ in game, fine, but stop making a "hack" out of a driver tool i bought with my soundcard. Thanks. -

EQ setting will be allowed for this tournament. We will give a official statement after that if they will continue to be allowed or not. You have nothing to worry about this tournament. Please calm down and use your EQ settings for this tournament. I apologize that EQ settings were giving people warnings we will look farther into what needs to be done. Also if you notice only one person got a warning for this. It might be something more then just an EQ setting or a file. We will continue to look into it to make the best decision for the whole community.

I just don't see why you need to make an official stance on EQs, half of the GM community use an EQ lol... It better be one hell of a statement, because at the moment the reasons seem pathetic. -

It is already allowed for the tournament. We will discuss if it will be allowed for other tournaments. -
Give these guys a break, they said they'd allow EQ in the tournament, isn't what you guys wanted? Plus I'm sure Sean doesn't play GM so he wouldn't know too much about the mode. At least they're trying to bring back the GM community so show some appreciation for their effort or don't play in the tournament you ungrateful fcks.

CowsGoMoo32 HAHAHAHAHA. Kid blows at everything. In snd he drops 0 bombs and "isnt trying". In e8 pubs he said i dont "belong" while going 0-5. Hes a bad player and sport. No wonder he can only get in on wannabe teams like monoxide. As far as GM goes he was in OldLegends. Nuff said. -

I use to be average. Now I don't play Crossfire much. I know what EQ settings do and I use to have EQ settings myself. The whole OCG group needs to talk about before I release my discussion. We usually go in the community's favor too so keep that in mind.
