Patcher v6 already running
So I tried searching but couldnt find a solution.
I just got back to crossfire 2 days ago and I've been playing without any issues for those 2 days. Until today. I try opening up Crossfire and nothing happens. The game doesnt open after I click Start. It isnt even in my task manager (CTRL+ALT+DLT).
So I look on my Processes tab and it says "patcher_cf.exe" but nothing about Crossfire as you can see from this screenshot.

Since it didnt open and nothing happened after I clicked Start. I try opening Crossfire again. So after I click Start this time I get this error pop up that says Patcher already running.

I've tried ending the "patcher_cf.exe" on my Task Manager and trying to open the game up again but it does the same thing. Anyone have a solution? I was playing earlier just fine.

This happens to me only when i've just lost internet connection (limted connectivity.)
This error can also be caused by your rooters firewall blocking the connection between the patcher/xtrap/crossfire.exe.
You can try lower your rooters firewall settings, furthermore disabling any advanced firewall on your PC (if you have one). -

thanks for the response. I tried plugging it straight into my modem and nothing. My connection is smooth and fast. and I have no firewall on this computer at all so i dont think that can be it. Im confused -

And what anti-virus do you use..?
also: what are your pc specs?
When I right click the icon I dont see a security option. I dont have any anti virus program atm. and my pc specs are pretty old but I have Intel Celeron 2.66GHz, 2GB Ram, NVidia Gefore 5200 graphics card with Windows XP. idk what else you need to know.
I was playing it perfectly fine earlier today. Then all of a sudden this happened when I tried to open it up. Weird. -

To run the programm as administrator:
1. Right click on the CF icon.
2. Click on Properties.
3. Click on the Compatibility tab.
4. Check "Run this program as an administrator"
