Crossfire doesn't load after clicking start?

I had this error before, but it got fixed & I don't remember how to fix it. When I click on crossfire.exe & click start, nothing pops up. They basically don't start..I run it as admin & windows XP. Tried doing the patcher.exe in the CF folder, doesn't work. I have it allowed by the firewall & antivirus. I am currently using Windows 7. Anyone know what was the solution that many people had fixed with? I can't find the thread anymore.

Re-Install Crossfire or right click Crossfire desktop icon and go to properties and try changing some things there and if not then I'm not sure, but I fixed mine by putting compatibility on windows 7 then I ran the game as administrator hope this helps.

I had this happen before, though all I had to do was install adobe reader and it started working. It could be a bunch of different issues, corrupted data is never off the menu.
