I prefer M249, it's basically an M4 with more power and more recoil, but a very similar spray pattern. If you practice with it you can drag-down burst with it like an M4, and because MG's only lose 1-3 points of damage at long range you can kill someone with a drag-down burst to the torso from across the map.

They have pretty much identical power, the only real difference is spray and reload time, and for a gun that has 100+ rounds per mag I don't mind a slower reload time.

The Gold and Xmas have less recoil than the regular, it's not a big difference but it's definitely noticeable.

MG3 for everything to be honest. I don't see a big point in having more ammo. It does have more ammo, but a four second reload.

^Currently you cannot get any permanent version of the MG3. The ones they've had on the black market in the past are the regular, the gold, and the legendary dragon. The MG3 LM is a temporary that you win from zombie mode crates. It's contained in all crystal crates, as well as the Dinner Theater and EMD Lab boss crates. You can also get the M249 gold out of all of the crystal crates, it's not in any boss crates though.
