Why is my computer shutting down while playing CF?

Why is my computer shutting down by itself while playing CF?

I am using a Lap-top and after i played crossfire for about 3 hours straight, the computer shut down by it self. When i leave my computer open, it never shut down. I don't know what is causing this problem. HELP!

    whats the specs on ur pc dude? my best guess is that u have a heating issue with it being a laptop. I know that Fallen used to have a link posted about a vid card program that showed what you had and that showed ur temp also.

    That only happened once? If that is the case then try to play for 3 hours, too see if it shut downs again...

    If it happens often after extended playing on your laptop then there could be a couple of obvious things that are happening.

    Depending on your video card you could be overheating the computer. Some laptops can overheat easily (especially if there is no air movement around the bottom of the laptop). Video Cards are a big factor in that. The computer's failsafe is to shut down for stuff like that.

    Also, I know this sounds really obvious, but check your power and battery life too. Sometimes when I'm using my laptop I noticed the power cable got unplugged and/or I forgot to plug it in in the first place. And I'll be on it for extended periods of time not realizing I'm draining the battery.

    Check for the obvious first especially with laptops before blaming CF for the crashing! :)
