CW Whisper

Is my buddy server fcked up again or am i not allowed to whisper people/friends in beta clan server?
Ive played a friend in CW, then he and his clan left to search another CW, i wanted to whisper something to him and whisper failed, on the friend list hes offline, but i joined his CW room and he was definately there...
Are you not allowed to whisper people in cw anymore? or is it just me...
