Weapon jams?
Hey guys! I apologize if this has been posted before, but this is something I wanted to bring up with my particular ideas.
I was playing a few rounds last night with my broken M16 and I had a light-bulb-turns-on-above-my-head moment. I was thinking it would be really neat if your guns, after a certain point of damage (half way, lets say) your gun jams every so often (one bullet out of all the bullets you have, to start) then as the damage gets worse, the likelihood of your gun jamming increases.
Now to go along with the jamming, it would be really cool if there was an unjam button implemented. Also, along the same lines as a reload, when you hit that button there should be an animation of your character clearing the jam. This would cause your gun to eject a full shell from the chamber as opposed to an empty shell casing.
This link goes to a video showing how to unjam an AR-15.
This should give you an idea of how the animation would look, for an assault rifle. For other guns the animation will vary slightly, but the basis remains the same.
I don't think this would ever be implemented because too many people would complain, but I think it would be a really cool, immersive feature to add. I also think it would be a little extra incentive for people to repair their guns.
What do you guys think?
