Ping "fluctuations"
The title isn't quite correct, though I can't really decide on what would be the correct term. I've played this game for over a year, and my ping has been roughly 45 on average for the whole time playing except when the servers temporarily moved, which brought my ping down to about 35. Now, however, my average is 55-60 and, oddly enough, is on occasion 39-42, a better ping than I ever had previously. Those are the only two ranges I ever experience, however; I don't get between 39-60, but instead either 39-42 or 55-60, seemingly at random, and it's usually the higher of the two. This began a couple of weeks ago, and some gentlemen in this thread pointed out that it seems to have happened to them as well, albeit on the European server. Any idea what's going on or how to fix this (preferably maintaining the lower of the two ping ranges that I experience)? Any help or comments would be much appreciated.

Just realized there's a technical support section. I'll repost this over there. For any moderators reading, feel free to move/merge this thread with that one.

your ping fluctuations could be your ISP's fault (peak points, for example) -

Don't think that's the case. While it's possible, I know several other people who have been experiencing this recently; I even noticed that there are other threads dedicated to a similar problem to mine. I don't think it has to do with peak times, either; I'll literally jump from the 39 range to the 60 range mid-game or between games sometimes. (That's actually usually how it happens.) Plus, I mostly play late at night, when the lowest number of people are online for both my ISP and for CrossFire. -
It may be related to your ISP not the game.
I keep a record of my ping to CF and some other anchor points which I found useful.
If my ping at CF goes sky high and the others are still cool, I come here to
QQ.
Your ping is a function of Z8servers,ur distance,ur PC,ur net connection type, time, ur ISP, traffic exchange rating of ur ISP, etc, etc.
Now reconsider the chances of you high ping is caused by Z8. -

Now look at a lot of the recent threads that have been posted here.
It isn't my PC or my ISP, and I'm using a very optimized connection with over 5 Mbps of upload bandwidth. All possible tests to discern whether or not my ISP is throttling my connection return negative. -
My ping fluctuated between my normally stable 34-40 to up to 80 for a while yesterday.
I'm getting seriously frustrated with these ping increases. Above 50 ms is practically unplayable for a game like this, and I should be getting a much better latency than I am. Don't know what's going on with Z8, but I'm seriously hoping (and doubting) that they will fix it. -

Anything up to 120 is playable in ny opinion. -

Not in mine. It becomes very noticeable after 50, but beneath 40 ms is almost perfect. Quick-switching with an AWP at high ping is extremely irritating and slower than with lower ping, though that's not even though most noticeable factor.
It's really sad because I doubt that Z8 will even admit their fault here, despite big-name players such as xfam0usx experiencing similar problems. I have tried most of the solutions to latency issues in online game (and I applied these before I even started playing CrossFire). I've disabled Nagle's algorithm (TcpAckFrequency = 1, TCPNoDelay = 1), I changed the NetworkThrottlingIndex to "ffffffff", which basically disables network throttling, and I've dabbled in modifying MTU, though I've found far too many ping spikes from it; I don't even know if it or Nagle's algorithm affect this game. (They won't if this game uses a UDP protocol as opposed to a TCP one.)
It seems really odd to me, though, that only some players are having their latencies affected by the recent updates. Me and several other people on the forums here have complained, but a lot of people have stated that their ping has remained the same, or even become lower. I'm truly curious about what Z8's blunder could be here.
