Can no longer play comfortable
I used to be able to play Crossfire with a 35-60 fps but I can no longer do so anymore. When I started getting a 20 fps and below I quit the game since it's quite hard to play. I love CF and I'd love to comeback. If anyone has any tips on how to bring my fps back up I'd appreciate it.

1. Open Task Manager.
2. Run a process called msconfig.
3. Click on the Startup tab and click disable all and press OK. (this disables programs that start up when your computer turns on. if you want anything to start up, check it.)
1. Open Task Manager.
2. Run a process called services.msc
3. Set to manual/disable (set to manual since you're a beginner) the following services:
To be said later when you answer the questions:
Do you use wireless internet?
Do you print anything?
Do you use 3rd party hardware on your computer besides a mouse and keyboard? (examples: ipods, kindles)
Sort the list out by startup type (automatic on top). Upload a picture of it and I'll tell you which ones to disable. Doing this should help a lot. -
Basic Things That could help.
First thing you should do is check your performance setting. If its on "Power Saver" or "Recommended" You want to up it to "High Performance".
Another thing that you should do is try a program called "Game booster". If you use this program it can boost your computers FPS By double the current FPS. You have to be careful with this program because some peoples computers cant handle the program for some odd reason and It freezes up their computer.
The amount of space your computer has left really effects the way alot of computers run so make sure you have at least 50 gigs open on your PC.
Once last thing is do a virus scan. Sometimes programs can sneak into your computers files and "Jam" up the processing slowing your computer down. So do a heavy duty scan to make sure your computer has no viruses.

Gamebooster disables some services, but it doesn't do it all the way because it's meant for most PCs, not yours. Also, doing it yourself not only optimizes it better than Gamebooster but it also saves hard drive space and unknown side effects with using the program.\
You should give it a try and if it's not enough, you can optimize your computer yourself instead of using a program. -
I do use wireless internet. I use Verizon Fios. I do not print anything, and I don't use any 3rd party hardware. As for gamebooster I tried that but it didn't work so well on my computer. But here's the photos of services.msc it's in an imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/OZcts#0

I forgot which services Windows 7 has so please upload a screenshot. Maximize the services screen before doing the thing in red. -

Actually never mind, make it so the running services are on top and take pictures 'till you get to the end of the running services.
Did you press disable all in MSConfig? -

^^^^^^^^ disabling some of these may cause your computer to be less secure by a little but if you have an antivirus (which you dont need if you browse safely) it should be okay.
Also, I left a lot there because I don't know what you do on your computer so your computer still has potential to be faster.
i can help u more if that isnt enough but i dont have windows 7 right now so youll have to wait till i finish downloading my game and i format to windows 7
if your computer still isnt fast enough i suggest you let me optimize your computer via teamviewer.

1. I think you should just disable more services.

^frees some processor power and ram^
2. If you don't care about how the desktop looks, open the start menu, right click Computer, click on properties, click on the Advanced tab, and click on settings in the Performance column. The rest should be obvious. (isn't exact. i have windows xp so i don't know what yours looks like.)
^frees some RAM^
3. Don't feel like thinking right now. -
You know you could have just told him to lower his graphics settings in game to minimal, raised his graphics cards levels to like 70/30 performance/graphics and that would probably boost his fps up to 40-60... then again if he's already done this... well the easiest and most assured way to crank graphics up... buy a new card... hell on newegg they got ones for $20 that will run this game at 100 fps.
then again i paid 120 for mine and it runs at a 200 fps constant on max settings at half the cards capacity rofl -
If you would let me optimize your computer via TeamViewer that would help your FPS but if you don't trust me you could wait until you get a new laptop.
You should get Windows XP. Windows XP is faster than Windows 7. There is a way to burn Windows XP onto a disk for free but it's against the rules. I'm also better at helping people on Windows XP than 7. -
