CrossFire.... please explain this. Thank You. :-)

Btw, the "dll" is still there. And please, do not even suggest a "virus check", a "spyware check", "re-downloading & re-installing CF", or wonder if my dog ate it. lol :-D

I realize this is just yet another "Update" coding foul up & the answer is to just wait it out, but, I am however losing the use of items & other purchases I have made within the last couple of days. Let's get to the gettin & get this fixed!

  • Same thing happened to me. Then I re-installed now I don't have the latest client download.
  • Someone said that you just have to search for the "MSVCP80.dll" in the CF folder and there should be a date after .dll in the name. Then you have to remove the date so that it's just named MSVCP80.dll and it should work then.
I don't know it it works that way though, that's just what I've heard.
  • uDream bro, u saved me. It works guys. Just delete the date on MSV file in Z8 folder.
One more time , thanks. You saved a girl in trouble;))
  • The "remove the date" thing did not work for me. I did however spot a "date" after another "dll" so I tried removing it & I still got the same bad results. I then tried re-installing CF, & just like 'Sniperhaha', it now gives me an error box saying I do not have the latest download, to go download the latest version.... & suffice to say, I already have & am downloading "the latest version". So, in a nutshell.... no more luck here.

    Any other ideas, gang?
  • that removing the date did the job for me..
  • I just did a complete "Uninstall" then deleted everything to do with CF & Z8 off of my computer, cleaned my computer with CCleaner & Glary Utilities, rebooted, cleaned my computer again, & then downloaded a fresh CF 1051, installed it, went to start it up, & got the error box pop-up about "having an old version & that I needed to go download current copy". OK'd it & it shut down. Results: crapped out, yet again, same results as before. (PS: No "dll" has any date by it.)

What now.... play the waiting game for CF to do a "fix update"?

It used to help to delete the version.ini file from your CF folder to fix the "not the latest version" error.

version 1051 is a pretty old version considering we're at ~1110 now.. Try to dowload the current version.

I have had success!!!! Game is now working fine! Yay! lol

Notes: Correction.... CF 1107 (directly downloading from CF website) is the most current version. Also, according to CNet's Download dot com, CF 1051 is the latest version.

My Progress: I ended up doing a total clean un-install & delete of everything Z8 & CF, & instead of going to Download dot com, (usually they're very trustable about keeping programs updated), I decided to come here directly to CF's website & download CF from here. I installed CF, let it do all of its updates, started the game up, & it worked like a charm. I also decided (just for ha ha's) to go into CF's folder, under Program Files, & check to see if any of the "dll's" had any "dates" after any of them "in the name". There was no dates listed in any of them. Everything is now back to normal. Thank Goodness! lol

Results: My CF game is now working normally, even if I'm still not. LOL! :-P

Thank you everyone for your replies, ideas, & help! Have a good one!

    Take Care,
