wont boot

I bought Skyrim. had to update directx to play. updated it and restarted my pc. now it wont boot. i run Startup Repair tool and all it says is that its unable to fix the issue. so i go to restore. but it wont let me restore. just says it failed to restore and gives me error code (0x80070003). none of the restore point work. tried to boot safe mode and every other boot option, none work..
It wont even perform a backup -.-
do i have to reset to factory settings? if i do, does that mean i lose my things like Windows, realtek software, and al this stuff? and any advice to fix my pc? Its an HP Pavilion p6 2143w windows 7 home

Windows 7 comes with DirectX 11, which is the latest. If you had to "update" it... just buy the game next time instead of downloading it.

Shut the fck up. Its genuine. skyrim said it was missing an audio file that was related to directx. Microsoft said to just reinstall. now.fck off?

Unlike the other people who replied to this, I'll try to give some assistance.

Factory settings will make your computer as it was when you took it out of the box and fired it up. The problem could actually be the hard drive. But I would recommend trying the Recovery thing. You'll lose all your personal stuff like games, pictures, and documents but to some people thats not as much of a problem.

Wow that was crazy. I replied and actually gave some advice without insulting him and/or accusing him of pirating a game. Crazy!

1. How did you "update" DirectX?

2. Factory settings is like setting your hard drive back to how it was when you bought it. That may seem good, but doing that also brings back a bunch of junk programs from when you bought it. It's better to "get" a new disk with a copy of Windows that doesn't have so much junk.

Seriously want me to go change 'Update' to 'Re-install'? Is it that important to you?

*edit: it wasnt out of date. again, it was just missing some audio/sound file. i looked it up and on microsoft.com it said to just re-install. are you done?

I meant what did you do to update it when it was already the latest version. You said "had to update directx to play. updated it and restarted my pc".
