Update Issue (Error Pop-Up)

I went to download my favorite game (Cross Fire) onto another computer because my main computer is out of commission for a short time. I got it all done - no problems. I went to start it up, got the main screen ( http://i50.tinypic.com/w019he.jpg ) & it did its updating thing - no problems. I clicked on the green start button, then the Crossfire Patcher (autoupdater) box popped up & started to do its thing. After a bit this error box popped up ( http://i48.tinypic.com/6jnbxw.jpg ) & of course when I "OK'ed" it or click the "X", the whole entire thing shuts down - no more install or playing of game.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP 1 Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4400 - 4.0GB Ram. I'm no computer pro wizard, but, I'm no computer dummy either. I've read through the forum here, tried pretty much all of the suggestions & answers to others - no dice, it didn't work for me. I've tried rebooting/restarting my computer, uninstalling Cross Fire totally & doing a clean fresh install, & still no dice, I get the same ( http://i48.tinypic.com/6jnbxw.jpg ) error box, then tada, it's over with & I'm done.

Please help a loyal, fellow, long time player out. Please, no quick drive-by answers from newbs. I need some serious, honest, help from anyone who "knows their stuff", plus, their way around a computer.

Right click the game icon and select "Open file location." You should see a bunch of different files. Scroll to the bottom and open up the file called "version". There will be two files that are called version, so open up the second one that is a text document. The second line from the top will probably say "LatestVersion = 1105" change the 1105 to 1077, then click "file" in the top left corner, and click "save". Then you're done! Just open up the game again, and it should run the patcher. It may take a few minutes to update, but after it does, your game should be working. Tell me if it works or not.

Tried... didn't work
Switched back to 1105 even though I saved.

I gave it a shot & still no dice. It gives me a box that says, "Access is Denide".

Isn't this the error that you just do it like 100 times and it eventually works?

Holy Cross Fire Batman! lol :-D I went to fire up CF, at the main screen it did several updates, then the CF Updater V.5 box popped up & did several updates, (this whole process taking near an hour even on a speedy internet connection), & it kept going & going, then TADA! it finished & fired right up & started working as normal, once again. Thank Goodness!

Thank You Cross Fire & Thank You everyone who extended a helping hand to this old school guy. It's very deeply appreciated! Have a super duper awesome weekend everyone!
