Getting an odd error

I have said this before but nothing was done to fix the problem.

I am getting a window saying crossfire has to close either "debug" or "close".

So I checked the CFLog and I have a few crashlog texts.

Each of them say "InvalidParameterHandler" So if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. I really don't wanna play with a window popping up every 5 minutes..

Comments

  • The same box keeps coming up, and it happens about every 3 or 4 rounds now, which is just unacceptable. It happens in the middle of the round and forces me to close the game. It started happening after the Snow Valley update.

Your best bet is to upload them in a .zip folder in a ticket to Technical Support. They will be able to understand the error log better.

There are two sets of reports you should upload. The first shall be found in C:\ CFLogs.

    The other set is found:
    C:\ Program Files(x86)\Z8Games\Crossfire\Logs

Copy both folders onto a .zip and upload it along with a hopefully detailed description of the error, and "how" you're getting the error.

Alright. There's nothing detailed I can say about the error.. i don't provoke it in any way that I know, it just pops up randomly after a certain period of time. Sometimes it takes 3 hours, and sometimes it takes 3 minutes.

I sent the ticket and I hope this can get fixed. Thanks for the help!
  • Recent update:

I still haven't been told by the support team or anyone about why I get this error.
  • Can you more or less try to explain here HOW you get this error?

I can't explain it.. It just happens by itself..

I play, I shoot, I change guns, I pick up guns.. I plant the bomb, I jump out of windows..

Nothing seems to cause the error I am having. It just happens randomly whenever it feels like messing me up.

Other than logging in and going into a game, I can't say what causes the problem.. Sometimes, very rarely though, it will show up on the lobby menu's as well..

I hit the debug option before but it doesn't do anything...
It freezes up Cross Fire and I let it run overnight once and CF was still frozen instead of closed and the error persists.
  • It must be like client error / app error. Both are appearing randomly.

No set of pattern? Like "I get it more frequently in 'this server' than in that server", or "Everytime I jump on this particular box at A site on this 'Map' in S&D with these particular room settings on, while I'm using this particular bag and character with items on" or "Even in the lobby menu in so-and-so server or channel"

    SPECIFICS! :o

I'm being as specific as possible. I only play on Alpha since the registry in Bravo is utter crap.

The only specific I can say is that it might have something to do with Alpha since it's the only server I play on.

My settings are on minimal with the exception of bullet traces.

Doesn't matter which char I use, which lobby menu, which game-type or anything I do within the game.

I'm really trying to be as specific as possible but unfortunately, there's not a whole lot I can say about this error...

Well they came back to work today... maybe it's the end-of-day for them now. But now you'll have a chance to have your ticket reviewed. Hopefully within the week.

  • In the meantime, post the picture of the error and a picture of the processes running.

The error is the one where it says "Cross Fire has encountered a problem and needs to shut down, you may lose progress on what you were working on" Then it has the option to debug or close.

Debug option does not work, see previous post for details...

No processes are added or stopped during this error and I do not run any other program when playing Cross Fire..
  • Would you please upload the entire set of logs for review?
  • I'm still getting the error and support has not replied yet..

    Tried re-installing?

Edit: Also, could you try and put the specs of whatever laptop/pc you are using? It might help.

I really don't want to re-install.. My installer is a bit older so I'd have patches from 4 months coming in and unless it will for sure fix my problem, I won't do it..

My specs won't help since I've been playing this game for quite a while with my PC. I've had problems in the past before but my PC can handle the game.. Just for some reason, this error has been popping up again..

I did try the debug feature once again last night and didn't seem like it did anything.. I'll have to wait to see if I get the error again today (which I most likely will).

Again? You mean that this happened before?
If that's the case, then you might have installed a program that conflicts CF or either way you had modified some settings that you have managed to fix before.

This particular error has never happened before.. However I think I might have found the solution..

I downloaded a mod from Rory "CF Tools" and it has the options of turning shadows on or off. Maybe that might be what's causing this error..

I'll turn the feature off and see if that's the solution.
  • Update: I did something with the "CF Tools" that seemed to have work.. However, the issue does come back but not as often or so it seems... I got the error twice again yesterday and I did get a reply from the support team.

They told me to search in the technical forums.. Yep.. That was really helpful.
  • They tell you to do that because they don't have an answer and don't really want to try and fix the issue. Leaving us empty and stuck with the problem.
  • This probably won't work but try starting your computer up and having it check your hard drive for disk errors.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

    ^ for Vista and 7.

    Try defragmenting your hard drive.
  • I don't got vista or 7.

I did maintenance on my pc and the error persists.
  • There are problems you cannot solve with a naked eye, maybe you have programs that optimize your pc as "Tunep Up, ASC", these programs are bad to our operating system.

if you want to fix the problem then simply you can just go to "Windows Update" and try to update "Windows" to fix defects caused by misuse of the Pc.

I don't run any tune-up utilities or misuse my pc. My updates are on automatic so that won't help me anyways.

I run Windows XP with only 5 services so I doubt making some start up will fix his problem. If it were a service causing a problem, it'd probably be a service that had to be stopped, not started.
