Stuck Connecting

I just bought a new 1300$ alienware computer and i downloaded CF.
All went well, but when I try loading the game, I can login, but I get stuck either picking the server, choosing the channel, or joining a room. I have another computer that can play CF just fine. I don't have the graphics card found in the stickied thread, so I dont' know the problem.
CF is not blocked by firewall.

Is it a bug in-game? And how would I fix?

  • Bump please help me :\
My other computer works fine but I can't do anything now...
    All other games work.
Is it that problem with xtrap in the latest update?
  • Your problem is really obvious man........ You bought an Alienware. However, this bug happens to a few players.

    This^^ ;)

Did you turn off your anti virus? Try re-installing? Running as admin?

i tried reinstalling, same thing...and opening as admin won't do anything because i can open it just fine. It just bugs and freezes all of a sudden.

**I found a minor fix; in the login screen, if I can login, join a room, join a channel, join a game, and hit the join game button in about 5 seconds, i can temporarily play that 1 single game. However, new players joining will not reveal names, it just has the revenge marker on it and updates their ping and killstats.
However, it is NOT a sufficient enough fix to this issue.
    PLEASE HELP !!!

You asked me a question and I answered it for you. I already told you that a few people had this issue. You could of used that money and build one yourself or get someone to build it for you for the same price or a little more expensive, but 100x better.

You didn't help fix the problem =_=
And what money are you talking about?
I bought the alienware, and then discovered the cF Bug.
Telling me that a few people had the issue doesn't help...
  • Alienware over priced, you should have gotten the ROG series by ASUS.

Telling you that people have the same issue as you does help. You know that you aren't the only one having the problems. The money I'm talking about is the money you used to buy your Alienware.

so do you have a fix?
    ...
  • Lol. It does the same on my ASUS G73JH. How far do you live from the server (UK?). I think your issue might be the distance between you and the server.

Try this and see if it works:
    1. run crossfire
    2. Ctrl+Esc to desktop
    3. go to task manager
    4. Select admin mode
    5. select crossfire.exe from processes
    6. right click and select set affinity
    7. Uncheck all cores except 0.
    8. close task manager and go back to game.

option 2: See if the problem is lesser at different times of the day. It might just be the load on the network.

An advice: Install something like rollback Rx so you wouldn't have to troubleshoot the same issues again an again. Save a snapshot when it starts working an just rollback to it if it stops working. At least that way you can be convinced that its not your machine thats causing it :)

Well for one, I play in NA server so....probably not that far...
And doing option 1 didn't do anything.
The problem is that sure, it loads the login screen fine.
But then, when I log in and try joining a server (alpha, the most popular), it just keeps saying stuck connecting.
However, there's like, a 5-7 second delay from the login screen opening and to the game crashing.
So in reality, I can actually join a game if I log in super fast and join a game in that time...but I can't play anything else, the game doesn't refresh, and when the game's over, I can't play anymore.
    :c

As for option 2, it definitely isn't it because my alienware's wireless card is far more advanced than the other computer I play in, which won't be available anymore soon since it's not mine :C
I think it's something involving the August 23 xfire patch bug that was in the support link...but my graphics card isn't any of those listed.
