changing profile picture :) please help

im trying to give myself a profile pic but when i go on google images, click on the picture, copy the url and paste it in the little box, once i press confirm or watever, it says invalid file. is it that it doesnt work with google images or something else. please tell me how step my step-not much of a tech person
