Resolution(?) Error? Can't play :[

I just installed the game, and every time I click the start button the screen goes black and when it comes back only about 3/4 of the crossfire screen is visible. The other 1/4 is blackness. I have made it into the lobby, but the options button is off the screen so I can't change the resolution. Any solutions? Below is a screenshot of the problem.

Try doing this method.
Go to the options button on the top right (wrench); then turn on Windowed mode then turn back to full screen, but you can choose to have window mode, its like just the login, game room in a small box of your full desktop.

I appreciate the response, the issue is that that portion of the screen is cut off so I can't even click the wrench to get to the options. Is there a way to change the resolution without actually entering the game?

Change the desktop screen resolution then do the method above and leave it on windowed menu mode and switch back to your normal desktop resolution?

Go to your CF folder....

rez > UI > Scripts > Login (or whatever it is) > edit login resolution to 800x600.

I'm at the scripts folder. Could you be more specific where to go next? There is no 'Login' subfolder. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Found the Notepad option. It is already set to 800x600

The only resolution my monitor can handle is 1024x768. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Graphics card. All drivers are up to date.

If I take a screen shot while CF is open it appears as normal. But on my screen it looks exactly like in the first picture I submitted.

So change the 800 to 1024 and the 600 to 768...
Comment back fast so I can see if it worked.

Already tried, it wouldn't let me save it.

Try copying the text file to your desktop and change the one on your desktop and saving it with Ctrl+S then restarting your computer so any files in the Z8Games folder won't be in use. Replace the the text file with the one from your desktop. You can back up the one in the Z8Games folder if you want.

BTW - What did your computer say when you couldn't save it?

Cannot create the C:\Program Files\Z8Games\CrossFire\rez\UI\Scripts\LogIn.txt file.

Make sure that the path and file name are correct.

Edit: Restarting comp now. (I appreciate all the help bro, I know you could be busy doing much more entertaining things.)

That will do absolutely nothing as the whole client runs in 800x600 and can't go any higher or lower (i.e. it's at 800x600 already). Changing that file will do nothing to your game at all.

1024x768. I did the desktop trick and got the LogIn folder to accept the 1024x768 change, but it did nothing, so now I am setting it back to 800x600.

My screen goes black for a few seconds right after I click "start" on the launcher. When it comes back, that's when the resolution is all whacked. When trying to change my Screen resolution it is unstable in the 800x600 setting, I'll get a picture one sec.

It appears as if my monitor can't handle the 800x600 setting. Or it is just off centered a bit. ^ This is EXACTLY what my whole screen looks like when attempting to go in to 800x600 resolution.

If your monitor has an auto-sync button, try pressing that button while CrossFire is up.
