why would cali care to know canada....hmmm not very close
Welcome on the planet Earth where you don't live alone, where country/states only has meaning in the money world because you're a human from the Earth and not a some "color, or country boy, from some other place"
In fact if you can't even figure out that much you wont be able to stand on this place much, the communication is excessively expending to the point that you could get friend in Japan while you're in UK.
Your "kind", let me say it like this, don't care anymore about others and about culture, you guys just totally lost the track of the rest of the planet and don't even know the country that is right beside your eyes. I don't know for you but I have never seen people in my country that doesn't know what europe is, what are the country and the continent in the world and other things like that, you know why ? Because they get told about it around the age of 7 and keep it in mind.
You call your state the best but I'm sorry to let you know but you don't have much to "sell" to people, http://www.mercer.com/press-releases/quality-of-living-report-2011#City-Rankings your best city is ranked around 30th in 2011. And there's not much to be happy about it. So I'm sorry to let you know but your place not worth much else the sun and the sand beach. -
Again, Cali is probably not THE best place in the world, but it still kicks buttl and is one of the best places in the US. Plus if it's not important, then why does it contribute 13 percent of the Gross state product.
EDIT: Also giggletron, why are you even here, no one ever said that the UK is a bad place, in fact it's really nice I heard, so stop badmouthing Cali. Also one thing I will have to say about Sweden is that it's much more advanced in human rights and things like that. In the US we still don't even have gay marriage. -

Thats ok though, You, Coon, and others have found a way to compare CA to Europe and Canada. I mean by all means do it, but I'm telling you, there is no where else where there is this weather, and all of this stuff (vague term but you know what I mean) around you. And yes London and the UK is diverse, but it can't compare to that of California. Just for some background everything that comes goes into the USA that is from the East goes into Oakland or Sanfrancisco.
I'll give you this though, Europe rocks; and I really do want to go to the UK. Hopefully I get accepted into the study abroad program they have with Cambridge for math classes. But Canada? Are you kidding me? Coon just stop talking. Half of that place is a wasteland. I can't even name a school or institution off the top of my head from Canada that is world reknowned. Garbage. People wouldn't even know about Canada if it weren't for some sports and the that you guys are right above the USA. I'm sorry but thats the truth. Thats why no one knows anything about you guys. I don't know your PM, I don't know when you guys got independence, I don't know any of that AND whats funny is that I frankly don't care. It doesn't concern me and it doesn't interest me. When it does, then I might go and research it. Same goes with so many people. Why the hell would you learn about a country if it isn't going to benefit you? I mean, yeah, if my boss was Canadian then for sure I would go out of my way to learn about history and what not in the case that a conversation came up, but other than that no.

And I find that very sad that barely touched nature is now considered "wastelands." But also, to get into these "wastelands" with no civilization at all, you have to drive pretty far north. And, you know who is to be blamed for these wastelands? THE USA! Because you Americans were trying to gain a lot of land, forcing us to settle along what is now known as our border. I'm not going to argue with you about how well known Canada is around the world, but I would prefer to live in a country which is known for a few a sports, just my own opinion and i would like if you could respect that.
Also, I guess we should go on a more equal ground, because instead of comparing state-country we should compare state-province. And I personally think a province that matches your description is British Colombia, except for the climate there; it has some brutal winters unlike Cali. -
