why doesn't spain have a knife only mode?

No one, besides the GM's and developers knows the answer to this question. I have a feeling that it was left out for the event because it would make the event way to easy.

i also wanted to play Spain with Melee only. I wanted to check out the map, but as soon as I spawn I move and get spam shot. Fck spain and fck this ribbon. Fck SnD altogether.

400 kills on a SND map in 3 days? Unbelievable.

Wouldn't have been an issue if there wasn't such options implemented in EVERY SINGLE OTHER SnD MAP.

I'm convinced this 'bug' however was intended. Or just very convenient, considering there was a notable event tied to this specific map and all and it was the only one affected.

Then again, as you said, this is Crossfire. It shouldn't come as a surprise.

The fact that the removal wasn't even mentioned to be possibly a bug or even intentional by anyone official. The patch was on a Thursday, it's now Tuesday. Instead they decided to let it be.
Usually if a person doesn't play a mode often, it's generally for a reason. The last thing they want is to have the options of a mode they don't play/like cut down more. Especially without notice.

I probably would've never bothered sniping, for example, if it wasn't for Sniper Week. I never really sniped before that. But I toughed it out and got the ribbon. Now I love sniping and snipe all the time. Though I can't remember what the stipulations were for sniper week. I imagine it was get "X" amount of sniper kills or whatever. Maybe it wasn't as hard as the Spain Event but it was just an example.

It's kind of different though. With Sniper and Pistol Week, you KNEW you had to use those weapons to achieve the ribbon. There wasn't any qualms about it. If you didn't like Snipers or Pistols, then you didn't have to do em.
However, the only thing you had to do here was Spain SnD. There was no other indication there would be restrictions.

Even if Melee is too quick, we all know that they can remove kills counted towards such things for events. They've done it before. But Sniper and Pistol too? They've removed 3 play styles.

That wouldn't surprise me either. But still, you gotta "play outside the box" sometimes too get those ribbons. If they wanted people to get their SnD ribbon the traditional way rather then Knife matches then why not? Melee only in SnD is a very different game so I kind of understand if it was intentional.

Perhaps so. But when they try and do an event, usually you give people some information. As noted above, they could have simply not counted the kills or games under those modes. But people should have the option. Even if not melee, have pistols or snipers. I don't see those being any faster than normal ones.

They've restricted 'the box' to those even play the mode regularly. As you mentioned, being different playstyles makes a different game. Not everyone is good at all of them. But again, no option, no notice.

Either way, if it was a bug, people will be peeved. If its not a bug, people will still be peeved. Don't see a recovery from this one.
