  • Great News Rolleym! I got walking sound and jumping sound.

    Walking sound: http://www.sendspace.com/file/r7csab

    Jumping sound: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ivct91

    I hope I helped!
  • Would be sweet if you made one for double jumping as well.

    If you provide me with timings, at this stage it wouldn't be hard for me to use my graphics engine to do this.

    #Region Background_Info

    Most of the code is for handling the cameras in the 3d world.
    for example, imagine a 3d box. It would have X, Y, Z (Sideways, up/down, forward/back) co-ordinates. Then think about how you would need to display it on a 2D screen. This is the hard part, along with generating every virtual 3D point for each and every triangle draw to the screen.:D

    #Endregion

    As the scoring/timing element of it only takes ~200 lines of code, I could release 2 versions. One for Bunny hopping, and another for double jumping. I could also make the program look different, if the double jumping from another game...So long as you provide me with the timings, and the logic behind the technique.;)

    This is so... Pointless.

    Is it my coding, or the idea in general?
    If it's my coding, constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated, as I always love to learn how to do things better!:o

    The idea in general, I applaud anyone able to code. So good job on that fact but this idea is kind of pointless.

    You are remaking a game, so you can add some instructions on how to do something that takes one sentence to explain. It really doesn't accomplish anything significant, cool that you can code it, but wouldn't you want to actually make something rather then redoing something that's already done?

    At the end of the day, it comes down to this:
    I wanted a task to practice my software and this seemed like a decent enough idea at the time :- I thought it would be something that people would find useful.

    Thanks :)
    I didn't know I could do it until I did it, if that makes sense. This whole process was very much a learning curve and allowed me to see what I could do. I can re-use 80 - 90% of the code used in this program in any other similar ideas requiring a 3D environment making this quite a useful attempt.

    Why don't you go and work for Z8Games or Smilegate? xD :p

    Unfortunately, I can't speak Korean! XD

    Also, software is a cool hobby, but a boring job... :L

    Makes sense, well have fun then and keep up the learning curve.
  • Update number 4: The sounds update!

    As you can probably tell from the title, I have managed to implement the sounds provided by abel95. There are now individual sounds for:

    -> Walking
    -> Jumping
    -> +2 points
    -> +1 point
    -> -5 points

    I have also managed to re-write some parts of my code to make it compatible with more people's graphics cards - however probably I don't think this was necessary. (Updated the code to use a "Reach" profile instead of a "HiDef")

    I have added Instructions on the welcome popup:

    As well as made an easy one-click setup. This includes searching the host's computer for the needed re-distributables, and automatically installing them if they don't have them.

    popup2f.jpg

    In-game, I have added an Frame Per Second counter at the bottom left hand corner, and a warning on the right to tell the player to press down a movement key - similar to the ctrl one.

    Movement key warning and FPS counter:

    All in all, not a very visible update but a very useful one!

  • Rolleym,

    You seem to have done a great job

    When do you think this will be complete and released?

    Most likely in a few months, Chimpzz, as Rolleym will not continue work on the project until GodsGunman first beta tests it, and that will only come back when he completes his military course.
  • This would help a lot with all of those SHNEAKEH SHNEAKEH GHOSTS!

    *Run run run run run run CROUCH!* "Can't see me!" *Run run run run run run CROUCH!*
  • So Rollyem and Gunsman are both making this?

    Sounds good. And looks brilliant.
  • Really looking forward to improving my bhopping :)
  • Update number five:

    Changed the Head Up Display a bit, and moved the scoring animations towards the center of the screen.

    pic1dh.jpg

    Added sounds for ambiance and the time space is pressed scoring.

    Coded a progress bar to see how close you are to reaching the score limit.

    Added a score target of 100 points and a message to say when you have achieved it.

    winec.jpg

    P.S: GodsGuman, could you PM me when you're back so as I can send it to you for testing. Cheers.

    Mat
  • If everyone would use it in pub, gr would die like hell :D
  • Just got back, it looks promising so far but I have a few inquiries such as the progress bar, for people that actually know how to bunny hop the progress bar will get annoying, if we're going to include something like that there should be different stages to complete, or something like getting 50 points makes you a decent bunny hopper, 200 points makes you a great bunny hopper and 500 points makes you a top bunny hopper, something to that effect.

    Okay, noted! I will change the progress bar to display a bunnyhopping "rank" instead. It would be difficult in XNA, but i could try and add a text file read/write which would store the rank between game sessions. Or if you think it would be better, to just have the ranks re-assigned when the game starts...?

    (P.S: I sent you the link for the setup in the conversation)

    Any decent bunny can hop forever, it's not possible to rate how "good" someone is at bhoping by just how they hop around on their own. The key is knowing where and when to hop during a real match. Every other trick is secondary.
  • Does this flash game thing have the same physics as CF?

    As in the air acceleration and such?

    Are you sure you're a ghost modder ? Talking about 1v1 in ghost mode is like saying you only have right to use Uzi in SnD. Dude wake up and open your eyes, ghost mode is a team game you can't 1v1 it. Main reason is because you got to watch on your team mate, and your team mate watch on you. Also if I'm on a smiley face with a m16 you believe it's to be a try hard ? When I could use my char with all the weapon, all the characters and all the things I could enjoy in a character ?

    I'm just doing this post because you're way too much on yourself you rely on your single win of a rigged tournament to claim you're the best to teach people how to do things in this mode, even I with my 5 basic kdr in that mode don't pretend I can teach people my way is the best, ofc I can help them out to get their own style which will let them be comfortable with the way they play, and will let them get the score they do want.

    But do not pretend you know how to bunny hop when you lose to people like me in a pub.

    I was running around with a golden katana, the worst or second worst melee weapon in the game, while you camped ramp at A the entire game. Get good then come talk to me.

    Also, it doesn't require skills to make a tutorial as long as everything is understood. But yeah I can probably bunny hop circles around you. if you have problems with me take it elsewhere, this is a thread about the tutorial last time i checked.

    and at not wanting to 1v1 me, nice dodge, scrub.
