Why is crossfire still updating server

Crossfire says it is updating server since 9-25-09 for 2-3 hrs. It is now 9-26-09 after 8 pm. It must be taking longer that normal...

    Game still not working

    I have turned off my virus protection and cleaned my computer of all previous downloads. I reinstalled Crossfire and I can now go to the log on and put in my user name and password. The screen goes to the server selections. I select a server and it locks up saying that it is trying to log on to a server.
    I also get the error "nprotect game monitor REv 1315 has stopped working" Prior to logging on. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS SO I CAN PLAY THIS GAME. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY PLAYED THE GAME AND NOW IT DOES NOT WORK...PLEASE HLP....
